As Kiara looked out towards the horizon she saw that everything was quiet. Maybe to quiet to enjoy- not alone anyway. Usually all of the animals would be up and talking, the kids would be running and playing. Normally she was the center of attention; she wasn’t used to the loneliness. But it was the middle of the night, what did she expect? Everyone was asleep. Oh well, she thought. I’ll just go back inside in a couple minutes. I just wanted some fresh air.
OOC: Sorry Im kinda of new to this, so im not very good

<Hello! I hope you don't mind if I join! On this board, Mufasa and Scar have come back to life as a result of an incident with Father Time. Your post is just fine, by the way.>
It had been difficult to comprehend that Simba was alive after so many years of believing that he had been dead, only to learn that he had lived a carefree life in the jungle, brainwashed to forget the past. When Mufasa had learned the truth about Simba, he set off searching for his son and convinced him to come back home. It was then he learned that he had a granddaughter, Kiara, a future princess and heir. Mufasa was overjoyed and happily welcomed the young lioness into his life.
Kiara reminded him very much of Simba when he was younger, the same rebellious streak and desire to play. The Simba that had returned to Pride Rock was different to Mufasa. He was unsure about his future responsibilities as King, content to allow his father continue his reign. This new attitude troubled Mufasa and so on this particular sleepless night, he decided to leave his den and seek counsel from the old Kings who watched over the kingdom in the sky above. What he found instead was his granddaughter. Mufasa padded up to the lioness, concern and curiosity in his deep voice.
“Kiara? What are you doing up?”

Kiara turned to see her grandfather standing beside her. Funny, I didn’t here him coming, she thought. Of course, she was so caught up in her thoughts tonight she could have missed a stampede. Well at least she wasn’t alone now; company was just what she needed. She was glad to have her grandfather here; she really liked talking to him. She was glad she had someone in her family who liked having fun, and wasn’t so caught up in ruling. Her father was great and she loved him, but he was always so strict- and boring. She just wished he would take a break and have an adventure for once.
She turned her head back to the stars, thinking about what her father had said about the kings of the past. She stood like that for a moment then answered. “I couldn’t sleep, so I came to look at the stars. Maybe learn a little from the great kings.”

<Sorry I took so long to reply. I'm on vacation right now, and have been having trouble with this site.>
Mufasa sensed that something was definitely troubling the young lioness and he sat down beside her. A nostalgic smile settled on to his face when Kiara mentioned the Great Kings. He was pleased that Simba had passed that belief on to her. Of course he might have had a paw in convincing his son that they truly did exist...
"I've come for the same reason, but perhaps we were brought here together to discuss our feelings with each other. Is there something I might be able to help you with?"

<It's ok. Lately I've been pretty busy too>
Kiara stayed silent for a moment, relaxing in the gentle breeze that blew through her golden fur. What was the matter with her? She herself wasn’t quite sure of the answer. Everything had been going well that week, orderly as usual… Maybe that was it, she thought. She needed something fun to do; being a princess could only be so entertaining. Sitting up on Pride Rock watching everyone else have the fun had driven her to boredom. It was clear to her now, what was wrong with her; she needed an adventure.
“I don’t know if you can help, but you’re welcome to join me” she smiled up at Mufasa. “I could defiantly use a little more fun in my life.”

<Sweet! We can be busy together!>
Mufasa looked pleasantly surprised when Kiara implied that he was “fun.” The compliment certainly boosted his ego, as well as cheered him up. He used to be a pretty “fun” and “cool” dad toward Simba when he was a young. Perhaps some of that was still in him and he could be all that as a grandfather for Kiara too. A glance over his shoulder reassured him that they were quite alone and with a mischievous grin he looked down at Kiara and said,
“You want some more fun in your life? Well the present is always a good place to start, I find. Come on!” And with all the eagerness of a young adult, he bounded off into the night.

Kiara smiled at her grandfather and followed after him, wondering where he was taking her. Maybe to the Elephant graveyard she thought excitedly. Or to the Outlands.
She remembered the stories her mother had told her, about her parent's adventures when they were kids. The places they had been scared to go, always seemed so amazing to Kiara. She couldn't wait to get to wherever Mufasa was taking her.
"Where are we going?" She yelled out, still running after Mufasa.

<What a BEAUTIFUL signature you have for your character!>
“To the waterhole!” he called back over his furry shoulder. Unlike the time Simba had lied to his mother about where he and Nala were rushing off to, Mufasa was completely serious. He kept a steady pace, occasionally checking to see if Kiara was still following. When they arrived at their destination a brilliant display of light awaited them. Hovering over the pond and around the area were hundreds of fireflies, creating a dazzling display over the water.
“I used to take Simba here when he was little,” confessed the King. “I think it’s only right to treat my granddaughter to the same experience.” He winked at her.

<Thanks My friend made it for me>
Kiara padded up to Mufasa, and stepped out from behind him. When she turned her attention to what was in front of her it amazed her. At first glance it looked like tiny lights had been strung around the watering hole, but when she focused on them they seemed to be thousands of fireflies fluttering soundlessly in the sky. It was absolutely beautiful. Kiara smiled at her grandfather when he told her that he took her father here when he was little. She was glad he wanted to share this with her too.
This place is perfect, she thought. I could definitely have some fun here.
“This place is amazing, grandpa. I love it!”

"I'm glad to hear it, Kiara! You father did too!" He flashed a knowing grin at the young lioness, so vibrant and full of life like her father and he was at that age. Well, Mufasa was certain he wasn't an old lion yet and that there was still a spring in his step!
"When your father was just a cub he wanted me to teach him how to pounce. Zazu was not very pleased with my idea of a lesson, so one night I took Simba here. We chased these fireflies until morning came and by then your father had become quite the pouncer. We spent many nights playing here."
Mufasa bat his paw playfully into the mix of glowing bugs. "It's like you're racing through the stars themselves...."
With all the energy and eagerness of a young cub, Mufasa ran into the sea of light, leaping with joy as he chased the insects.

Kiara laughed quietly to herself when her grandfather mentioned Zazu. She could see his scowl perfectly in her mind, as she had many times in real life. She wished she could have been there to see the lesson. Her father learning how to pounce, Mufasa cheering him on, and Zazu’s- far from approving- scowl as he silently watched from the sidelines. He was such a funny bird, always so uptight.
As Mufasa took off running again, so did Kiara. Only this time she wasn’t paying attention the where she was going, she was too amazed by the all of the lights. Mufasa was right, it was like racing through the stars.
“I can’t believe this place exists. It’s too perfect.” She called after her grandfather, though she had no idea where he wandered off too.

"The night holds many wonders and secrets, Kiara," the lion explained. "You need only to go out and find them." With a small smirk and a mischievous twinkle in his eyes he added, "Though this does not mean you should scamper off every night to do so. The night holds as many dangers as it does wonders and you must always be careful when you leave."
Another lesson. There always seemed to be some sort of lesson or wisdom behind Mufasa's words. He was certainly more than happy to pass the morals along to his family, hoping it would help them have a more enriched life and a safer one at that. As a cub he sometimes found his own father's lessons and advice boring, but later on in life his words began to make sense and he always hoped his cub and grandcub would benefit from his own advice as well.
"Have you ever done things like this with your father?"
Maybe he was prying, but having only 'come back' when Kiara was older he missed watching Simba raise his own cub and sincerely hoped Kiara's answer would be "yes."
