Kenneth Mars, a hilarious actor who acted in classic Mel Brooks films such as The Producers and (my favorite Brooks film) Young Frankenstein, but is probably best known to most Disney fans as the original voice of King Triton (Ariel's "daddy"), has died at 74. He died of pancreatic cancer in Grenada Hills, Los Angeles, California. He was almost two full months shy of his 75th birthday.
Although Kenneth Mars is widely known for his roles in comedy, he was no stranger when it came to voicing characters in animation. Of his animated roles, King Triton is probably his most significant, though he had acted in other Disney projects, such as Darkwing Duck and TaleSpin. I believe Kenneth Mars is survived by his spouse and his three children.
Rest in peace, Mr. Mars. I loved you in the aforementioned Mel Brooks films, and King Triton has not been the same ever since.

Aww, that's pretty sad. I didn't know he appeared in Tailspin too, do you know who he played?

If I recall correctly, Kenneth Mars voiced Professor Buzz in "TaleSpin" in at least two episodes. I don't know how many episodes Buzz was in, but I distinctly remember watching two. "I'M NUTTY!"

I never realized that that was Mars doing Professor Buzz. I'll have to re-watch those episodes again (I seem to recall him being in two myself).
