Today was a special day in ENCOM's fiscal year: the company's primary tower would open its doors for guided tours in the structure. This was the only chance the public could seize to enter the building, and it was just for a single day of the year. Technical geeks, aspiring programmers, and even technophobes could be permitted in the tour. Of course, this was also a good day for businessmen to meet with some of the top men in ENCOM International. Those who wanted to participate in the tour were told to wait outside of the main building. The tower was huge, with the ENCOM logo having a very long tail. A band (preferably cheaper than any seriously mainstream band) was invited to perform outside to pass the time before the tour could begin. Who was clustered outside of the ENCOM tower...?

The band, in question, that was performing just outside the ENCOM building was a small jazz band that's been slowly growing in popularity all around - the Firefly Five, originating from New Orleans, Louisiana. Consisting of only six members on tuba, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, piano and drums, its modest size was more than made up for by the sheer talent of the musicians, and the vigor in their lively, jazzy music.
The ensemble was just finishing up their last number, as the tour was about to begin. The song came to a rousing finish thanks to a solo by the trumpet player - who was, arguably, the star of the band; Louis, a six-foot tall bipedal alligator who, some say, is one of the greatest trumpet players on earth. The audience roared with applause, and all the band members bowed to give their thanks, including Louis. The only thing that made this gator happier than hearing such applause in response to his performances was actually performing.

Scrooge McDuck, who was one of those businessmen interested in meeting with the ENCOM higher-ups, stood among the crowd, cane in hand.
Scrooge wasn't crazy about computers. Far from it. The most he knew about them was how to turn one on and how much Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webbigail used them for school and played those silly games on them. In some ways, he was a very traditional duck, and in other ways, very cutting edge. He knew that where it concerned computers he couldn't stay in the past forever. A deal with ENCOM could prove very profitable for McDuck Enterprises.
He applauded mechanically when the rest of the crowd began cheering the band, his mind on business rather then the jazz music.
