Real Name: Carl Fredricksen
Alias: The Balloonist
Age: 78
Species: Human
Sex: Male
Nationality: American
Alignment: Cranky isolation
Affiliated With: No one currently. He will eventually join the Dream League during a specific plot, and remain a permanent member.
Status: Inactive
Physical Description (Body structure, eye color, hair color, etc.): From a design perspective, Carl is very stylistic and angular. He has a square jaw, a bulbous nose, and his head is one-third his body. He appears below average in adult male height.
His eyes are blue, his hair is white, and his white eyebrows are bushy.
Appearance (Dream League): A humble brown suit jacket, a white buttoned shirt, light brown pants, and leather shoes. He often wears both a belt and suspenders, and a black bow tie. He wears no mask; his identity is completely exposed. If the Balloonist wears his power ring long enough, his blue eyes become brighter.
Appearance (Outside of Costume): He often wears the same kind of clothing outside of "Dream League," but he occasionally wears a sweater vest instead of the jacket. In both instances, Carl wears black eyeglasses with thick rims, a hearing aid in his right ear, and false teeth.
Abilities and Powers: As the Balloonist, Carl wears a power ring that grants him powers of physical control, and make objects levitate as though they were lighter than air, just like balloons. The power of the ring is a glowing blue. He also has various different types of balloons at his disposal that can aid him during a mission. He can fly but only if his ring is sufficiently charged and he has enough willpower.
Weaknesses: He is drastically weaker without his ring. His ring's power can run out, and in this case it has to be charged to full power again.
Accessories: His power ring; balloons.
Character Information (Personality & Motivation): Carl Fredricksen was a famous and highly active superhero in the past. As a child, Carl idolized the hero of the good old days: Charles Muntz. It was also in his childhood that Carl met his lifelong sweetheart, Ellie, who would later become his wife.
The married couple soon learned that Ellie was infertile, which devastated her. But soon after the couple had a new calling: they were gifted rings of power by an alien. With these rings, the couple became the superheroes The Balloonist (Carl) and The Aviator (Ellie). The Balloonist and the Aviator were active for over forty years up until their retirement.
When he was the Balloonist, Carl made no effort to conceal his identity. Carl Fredricksen was the Balloonist, loud and proud, and Ellie likewise known as the Aviator.
Tragically, Ellie has since fallen ill and died, leaving Carl alone. Ellie was Carl's life and purpose, and so losing her rendered him bitter, cold, and detached from public life. He all but lost his willpower to live. He had written off the hero business forever, and insulted or ignored anyone who brought up his past.
