Decided that Delbert's profile was in need of some sprucing up. I've made some changes to the background and some other sections that I think will work better for the setting, as well as added more details.
Real Name: Doctor Delbert Doppler.
Alias: Savage.
Age: 38.
Species: Anthropomorphic mix-breed dog.
Sex: Male.
Nationality: American.
Alignment: Lawful good, although Savage seemed more neutral in his early appearances.
Affiliated With: Eventually, the Dream League.
Status: Active.
Physical Description: Delbert: Possesses peach-hued skin, floppy ears similar to those of a terrier, and a somewhat long muzzle with a large nose-pad. He’s thin and lanky, but tall, about 6’2’’ in height. His eyes are a dark brown. He has tawny-brown hair that he wears long (it's slightly past shoulder-length) and neatly tied back, and his thin eyebrows are the same shade as his headfur.
Savage: One would find it hard to believe that he and Delbert are actually the same person. Savage is as muscular and intimidating as the good doctor is weedy and unimposing, towering over most people at nearly 7’0’’. In this form, he actually resembles the typical pop culture image of a werewolf more then anything. He has a shaggy tawny brown mane of sorts growing around his neck and on his shoulders. Likewise, he has visible fur, especially on his face along his jawline and on his elbows. He still retains his hair, only it’s usually unbound and much wilder-looking then Delbert’s is. He has pointed triangular ears, a lupine muzzle lined with large sharp teeth, and noticeably long, sharp black claws on his digits. His eyes are smaller in size then Delbert's eyes are and the irises are yellow in color. He doesn't wear glasses, as he can see just fine. His legs are digitigrade (in other words, he walks on his toes).
Appearance (Dream League): While on the run from the authorities, nice clothing was difficult for Delbert to come by. However, when he joins the Dream League, he has the chance to fix himself up and appear more presentable. While out on missions though, he will wear something simple, like a dress shirt, usually in some neutral color like white or tan, and pants, having previously lost more then a few good suits when he’s transformed. He often wears small gold-framed spectacles. Savage just wears ragged pants and no other items of clothing. He makes no attempts to disguise himself (there really isn’t any point in doing so, is there?).
Appearance (Outside of Costume): Same as the above.
Abilities and Powers: Delbert is terribly intelligent, especially in the fields of astronomy and physics. When he actually puts his mind to it, he can actually make quite a bit of trouble for enemies. He seems to be a surprisingly decent shot with a gun (though then again, this might be blind luck).
If either stressed out, upset, or angered enough, then he will transform into a monstrous, feral version of himself. As Savage, he possesses superhuman strength that enables him to rival such powerhouses as Sunshine and Bongo. His super-strong legs allow him to perform massive leaps that can carry him over great distances. His invulnerability allows him to shrug off most physical attacks and weaponry aimed his way, including lasers and gunfire (though anything stronger then a .50 caliber does sting a little). Even if he does happen to be injured, then his body can quickly heal itself. His claws and teeth are razor-sharp and can easily rend steel. While Delbert already possesses a fine sense of smell (he is a canine), Savage’s senses, namely his sense of hearing, night vision, and smell, are far more heightened. If he howls loudly enough, then he can utilize this as a sonic attack.
Weaknesses: Delbert has a bad tendency to ramble while talking, and is infamous for making Freudian slips and phrasing his sentences in… awkward ways. He is not a take-charge type by any means, preferring to allow other Dreamers like Duck Avenger or the Masked Mallard to take the lead, and can be meek in certain situations. Unsurprisingly, he is neither very athletic nor coordinated.
Savage, on the other hand, can be a violent loose cannon. As a result of this, even a number of his own teammates on the League are uneasy around him, to say nothing of a number of Epcot City’s denizens. In either form he is vulnerable to mystical attacks. Because his healing powers tie into his metabolism, this means he has to consume a lot of food to fuel his energy. If rendered unconscious somehow, then he will revert back to his original form.
Accessories: Pants that always mysteriously remain on even when he changes.
Character Information (Personality & Motivation): Originally, Delbert was born in Seattle, but later moved with his family to Epcot City. He graduated from high school early and went on to attend the University Of Calisota. As an adult, he enjoyed fame in the scientific community as a well-known astrophysicist. Wanting to give something back to the city, he eventually took up a teaching position at his alma mater.
While stargazing one night, Delbert caught sight of a meteorite that was due to land in the same location he was in. Intrigued by the unusual meteorite, he decided to bring the object to Epcot City’s astronomy department.
The first time his powers manifested was a few days after this event, when he encountered a couple of muggers one night. As Savage, he easily routed the thugs. The second time he transformed, he wasn’t so lucky in evading detection, as he soon found himself in the sights of the ECPD. It was decided to call the military in to catch the “monster”, which they only managed to do after a destructive battle. Delbert was then held in government custody. While imprisoned, scientists studied his abilities.
He succeeded in escaping his captors, and went on the run, wanting to find a cure for his condition. He ends up returning to Epcot City, interested in speaking to a colleague at the university who had studied the meteorites and discovered that they contained a strange type of energy. During this time, Delbert and the Dream League got off on the wrong foot, as they’re initially led to believe that he’s a threat. The first clash between the Dreamers and Savage ended up destroying a lot of public property. However, when the Dream League realizes that he means no harm, they come to a truce. In the long run, Delbert decides to join them as a member. Thanks to this association with the heroes, he is considered to be in their custody and is finally left alone by the government. He has a room of his own at the Overlook.
Delbert and Savage are, for all intents and purposes, two separate individuals, though they are well aware of one another; on fact, Savage regards Delbert with something a lot like contempt. At first Delbert was disturbed by the idea of having a dual personality, but now tolerates his alter ego at best, and tries to rein in Savage’s vicious nature. They are capable of conversing back and forth with one another; if the other Dreamers catch either in the act of apparently talking to himself, he is actually conversing with the other personality.
Most people would dub Delbert a nerd, and well, they’d be correct. He gets a kick out of showing off his knowledge for others, though he is a reliable and honest person. He has become far less timid, at least as far as the prospect of confrontation goes, but at the same time, doesn’t believe in taking stupid risks. Thankfully, he’s really not the sort to use his powers for intimidation. According to him, earlier on he did once use his powers for the purpose of revenge. He is reluctant to talk a great deal about this particular incident however, only saying that the results turned out to be a great deal more catastrophic then what he expected.
Delbert hopes to prove to Epcot City and the world that he can be a hero. Likewise, he has always desired to take part in a grand adventure, and feels that by joining the Dream League, he’s finally bringing that dream to life.
With his gruff, blunt manner of speech and short temper, Savage may not seem as bright as his other self, but he is possessed of an animal cunning that surprises foes. Much of the time he is sarcastic and comes across as being (very) cranky. Although he has a great mistrust of the government and authority figures such as police officers stemming from his numerous run-ins with them, and his view of humanity is pessimistic, he is ultimately goodhearted. Savage doesn’t go looking for fights, but will finish them.
Voice Actor/Actress: David Hyde Pierce. As for Savage, not sure. He has a very deep, growly voice, which has no trace whatsoever of Delbert’s refined, proper tone. Lou Ferrigno (the original Incredible Hulk from the '70s series) or Fred Tatasciore (who voices the Hulk in “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”) maybe? I’m open to ideas.
