Shere Khan never opened the limousine door for entering or leaving, because there was always a sycophantic subordinate to open the door for him. It was a wonder how a tiger who often had things handed to and rarely exerted muscles him could stay in such extraordinary shape. A timid subordinate opened the door for Shere Khan, and the tiger stepped out of the limousine. He grimaced as he saw smoke emit from the vehicle's engine, and he approached the driver who propped open the hood to examine the faulty engine.
"What happened?" Shere Khan asked in an unamused tone.
"Sorry, Mr. Khan!" the drive apologized nervously. "Guess the engine's busted!"
Shere Khan closed his weary eyes and sighed. "That will not do, Eduardo. This will come out of your next payment."
Eduardo was crushed that he would lose a huge sum of payment, but he was relieved that he wasn't outright fired. He nodded. "Yes, Mr. Khan. I'll have this fixed in no time!"
Shere Khan pulled out his grossly expensive from his suit jacket and examined the time with raised brows. "I am twenty minutes ahead of schedule, and the Tower is in walking distance. I'll just rely on my feet for now. Have the car fixed, Eduardo, or you'll lose more than your paycheck. Understand?"
"Yes, Mr. Khan."
Eduardo was already making phone calls as Shere Khan, with his paws locked behind his back, turned and walked through Epcot Park. Epcot City was best known for being a corrupted urban city with skyscrapers and noticeable pollution, but the park was one of the nicer places of the county. There were actual trees, a small lake, and even colorful flowers within the park. Shere Khan could see his Tower (of course, it was the tallest building in the city) from where he walked. He would get to the Tower soon; thankfully, the limo broke down very late in the travel, so walking wasn't such a problem for the billionaire. It was very pedestrian and mundane, but time is money.
Shere Khan stopped in his tracks and looked in a specific direction when he heard... singing? It was a beautiful voice, definitely from a female. He walked beyond a cluster of trees and that's when he saw her.

A beautiful young woman of seventeen was singing in the park. There were two kids and their mother sitting on a park bench, and the teenager stood before them, her hands together on her chest, singing with a superbly operatic voice that almost belied her young age. The mother and her offspring happily watched and--more importantly--listened to the attractive human as she sang an old song. The mother and her daughter were astounded by the singing voice, while the son was more interested in her fetching looks. Even though the teenager wore black-rimmed glasses, a ribbon in her golden hair, a gray dress jacket and pencil skirt, a white blouse, and black high-heeled shoes, the family thought she would be better wearing a flowing costume and singing on stage, with a voice like that. Shere Khan was in time to catch the closure of the song. The girl sang for the family on the bench, without knowing of the tiger's presence. Until you learn to see with your heart Beauty hides behind the common place But through the eyes of love, you can start Seeing beauty face to face
Reality can be all you want it to be There's a golden shore, there are silver skies You'll see your castles rise Through the eyes of love
As winter snow only hides the flowers below Every face and everyday place conceals A beauty it reveals To the eyes of love... [/i][/center] After she finished her song, the family applauded enthusiastically. "Oh, thank you! I'm happy that you enjoyed my singing!" But all of a sudden, sharp clap from someone else startled everyone, even the singer. The bespectacled beauty looked to where the clap came from.

Shere Khan had remained still as a statue as he watched the teenager sing for a mother and her two kids. At least, he presumed the woman and the children were related. They weren't important; the singer had his undivided attention. He listened to the song. The lyrics were too saccharine for his personal taste, but the singing voice the girl possessed was undeniably marvelous. In fact, it actually made Shere Khan smile. It was amazing how such an inferior creature as a human could have such a magnificent voice!
Shere Khan brought up his large paws and clapped loudly after the girl had finished her song. As he applauded, the tiger walked until he approached the singer. "Bravo! Bravo! An extraordinary performance!" The tiger very rarely complimented anyone (only the Twin Fangs were consistently praised by him), and so the teenager being complimented by tycoon Shere Khan was truly serious. At least, from the vain tiger's perspective.
"You truly have a gift, woman. What is your name?"

The attractive glasses-wearing teenager watched as the bipedal, tall and gracefully muscular tiger in the lavish suit approach her. The tiger towered over the young woman, and even though the tiger complimented her, she still felt a tinge of uneasiness. The mother and the kids seemed to think so, too, because the mother gasped when she recognized the tiger, grabbed her offspring, and walked away, out of sight.
The teenager revealed her shyness in her answer. "My name? It's... Briar Rose." After a short pause, the teenager smiled meekly and softly asked. "Who are you?"

Shere Khan's eyes were normally half-closed, perfectly expressing how bored and aloof he was with the world. The calm, powerful cat hardly needed to keep his eye fully open. However, the human female's question not only caught him completely off guard, but his eyes opened as wide as they could, and his mouth was agape. He was truly shocked by the query.
"Who am I?" Shere Khan closed his eyes and laughed smugly. After his laugh, he noisily breathed through his nostrils and proudly placed his right paw on his chest. "Could it be possible that you don't know who I am?"

Briar Rose's smile completely shattered. Her cheeks flushed red, and her eyes expressed embarrassment and shame at the tiger's reaction. He was clearly shocked by her question, and even laughed. The beauty with the soft, dulcet hid her face from the tall and muscular tiger. Secretly, she was physically stronger than he could ever dream of...
"I'm so sorry!" Briar Rose apologized deeply. "I-I've never been in Epcot City before, and I'm still unfamiliar here..." She looked up to the tiger with red cheeks and vulnerable eyes. "I'm sorry, but I really don't know who you are."

As the pathetic human explained herself, Shere Khan stared at her in amusement. It was astonishing, really; everyone in Epcot City knew Shere Khan. And every business owner wished they could run from Shere Khan. But this timid human was entirely different. It was charming, in some way, how she apologized and blushed profusely. The tall and broad-shouldered Bengal tiger held up his right paw, while his left paw was tucked in his left pocket.
"It's all right, Ms. Rose! Ignorance is bliss. My name is Shere Khan. You should remember that."
After a pause, the tiger complimented again. "Your singing is exquisite. I hope to hear it again... soon."

Briar Rose was uncomfortable talking to Mr. Khan. She didn't know whether to trust him, or to fear him; it was difficult to read him. He could be complimentary and terse within seconds, and so the human felt uneasy, even when she tried to be relaxed. Regardless, she smiled up to the male tiger as he complimented her, although the 'ignorance is bliss' comment seemed too precise to be a mere joke.
"Thank you, Mr. Khan. I love singing to anyone, so if we ever meet each other again, I... I could sing. If you want." At that moment, Briar Rose realized something: as Sunshine, she never sang to the Dream League before, has she? Of course, she couldn't think out loud, and give away her alternate identity.

Shere Khan grinned, revealing intimidatingly sharp teeth, most of all his fangs. His physique may have intimidating many other humans and smaller animals, but Khan was proud to be a tiger. the world is like a jungle, and there are only predators and prey. Not only was Shere Khan a predator, but he was a large tiger. This fact comes in handy very often.
"When we meet again, Ms. Rose. Not if. And now, I really must be going." Without another word, Shere Khan turned and walked away towards the enormous tower in the distance. As he walked, he hummed the melody Briar Rose had sang to the mother and her two children just moments prior.

Briar Rose's smile was scared away by the tiger's teeth. Although she had met many anthropomorphic animals, she had never met one with such powerful, destructive fangs. Of course, she didn't know for sure if Khan's teeth were destructive, but they looked that way. The tiger 'corrected' her ominously. Then he excused himself, turned, and walked away. She could hear him humming the melody she had sang just moments ago.
Left alone, Briar Rose watched her new acquaintance. Her cheeks were pink, and she didn't know how to feel about meeting him.
"... I should go."
She turned and started her exit of the park.
