Dreamchild covered her mouth and fought back a gasp, when the ninja appeared suddenly and covered Duck Avenger's bill. She landed on the pier and calmed herself, and lowering her hands to her chest. She wanted to speak to Cold Shadow telepathically, but she spoke to Duck Avenger first.
<<Duck Avenger, I am going to speak to Cold Shadow now. I will tell you information when I can.>>
Without wasting another moment, Dreamchild looked to Cold Shadow (even though he couldn't see her, and spoke telepathically.
<<Good evening, Mr. Cold Shadow. This is Dreamchild, and I am speaking to you through your mind. Please don't worry! I know this might startle you, but this is really quite safe. And if we speak with our minds, then the Phantom Blot can't hear us! Isn't that ingenious?>>
Dreamchild smiled happily at that last thought. For a girl filled with inexplicable phenomena, she treated her powers with a low-key tone of (mental) voice.
<<I want to apologize about our mistake, but I suppose that can wait until later. Right now, I'm curious as to what we should do. Do you have any suggestions? Should we all go inside, together? What do you think?>>
After a short pause, Dreamchild answered. <<Oh, I beg your pardon! To speak to me, simply think of what you want to say, and say it, in your mental voice. It might sound odd, but it's easy after you try it.>>
She nodded, feeling that she was clear in her explanation.

Yikes!! Bongo nearly leaped three feet into the air (while on his rear end, no less) in shock as a hand suddenly covered Duck Avenger's bill. The bear was quick to recognize who it was, however - Cold Shadow! And it looked like he was here to help, this time! Bongo gave an open-mouthed smile to the ninja duck, happy to see him - quite a far cry from when they first met.
As Cold Shadow hopped atop one of the crates and pointed towards a warehouse, Bongo peered over the crates in curiosity to get a look at what he was pointing at. Was that where the Phantom Blot was hiding? Bongo looked to Dreamchild to see what her reaction was to all this, but she was looking straight at Cold Shadow, not making a sound - looks like she was using her telepathy, again. The bear looked back and forth between Cold Shadow, ever so curious about what the two were talking... er, thinking about.

The usually calm and collected Cold Shadow visibly jerked with a start when Dreamchild began communicating with him telepathically. At first he confused it for her speaking aloud, which was mortifying considering the Phantom Blot was within earshot. And, upon realizing that the voice was within his own mind... well, he was still mortified. Such amazing powers; it was like something straight out of the comic books he would read as a tyke.
He had done his homework on the Dream League, and yet no official, or even unofficial, reports on Dreamchild made any mention of this power. Which was understandable; since it couldn't be seen that would make it difficult to catalog unless you had experienced it first-hand. Of course, with mind-related powers he also wondered just what she was capable of. Could she read the minds of others? It was a frightening prospect, and quite intrusive, to say the least.
Regaining his composure, he adhered to her advice and thought while projecting his thoughts toward her. He wasn't exactly experienced with such acts, and only hoped he could do it correctly. <<We'll let sleeping dogs lie, as far as that's concerned. Just trust me when I tell you that you can't ever trust the media. Their focus is on their ratings, not the truth.>> He responded. Ironically, he thought about dropping the subject and yet immediately followed it up with a brief lecture, despite his aforementioned statement.
<<As Duck Avenger has likely informed you, this is the work of the Phantom Blot. He and I... have sort of a past together. A game of cat and mouse, if you will. It's understandable that he'd hold a grudge against me.>> He informed her, all the while wondering if she was already aware of all of the information he was relaying. He was hardly an expert on psychic powers. She could see into the future or even tell you how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop, for all he knew.
He pointed toward the warehouse. <<He's inside. I'm going in after him. You guys do what you feel is right; I'm hardly in a position to issue commands to you, and vice versa.>> He informed her. Then, in the blink of an eye, he seemingly melded into the shadows and disappeared in pursuit of his target.

Dreamchild smiled and nodded. <<Very well, Cold Shadow.>> She didn't expect the ninja to return the courtesy. She looked to Bongo and Duck Avenger, then spoke to both of them through telepathy. <<Cold Shadow is going inside to pursue the Phantom Blot. I say we join hm after a minute has passed. Prepare yourselves.>> She stretched her arms in place, limbering up.

Cold Shadow made no response to Dreamchild, though he had received her mental message loud and clear. He was too preoccupied to reply as he made his way in through an open window. He avoided the windows which were littered with loose, broken glass, as it was in his ninja nature to choose the path less noisy. He slipped in without a sound, like an apparition entering to haunt and terrify the criminal hiding out there. That wasn't far from the truth, though a true ghost likely wouldn't tie up said criminal and gift wrap them for the ECPD to discover.
His bare, webbed feet softly touched down upon a stack of dusty crates which were oh-so thoughtfully left for him just below his point of entry. His heart raced at the assurance that the Phantom Blot was in the warehouse with him. The game of cat and mouse, as he had described it to Dreamchild moments earlier, could very well be put to rest with just a few well-placed maneuver. And the misdeeds of the Phantom Blot could be snuffed out as he rotted in D'Arque Asylum. Another strangely pleasant thought. The Phantom Inmate.
Stealthily descending from the crates, he stuck to the shadows of the gloomy warehouse, inching his way ever closer to the object of all of his recent troubles. When he felt he was close enough he readied his wooden staff, then lunged, intent on bringing it down over the Blot's noggin' and rendering him unconscious.

The Phantom Blot, unaware of the stealthy ninja lunging for him like a fat man to an all-you-can-eat buffet, coincidentally and conveniently sprang up from his chair and started pacing forward. With his brisk steps his cloak swayed, and he punched his left palm with his right fist, grumbling angrily, obviously vexed by the no-show of his incompetent cohort.
"How difficult, pray tell, is it to abscond with the bank's money?" he asked aloud, rhetorically and melodramatically.
He jolted to an instant halt when he heard the sound of someone colliding into his chair (not necessarily tripping over it), and the chair's long overdue destruction. Hearing the wood snap apart and collapse on the floor, the Blot's eyes opened widely, almost like a snap. He spun around and glared at the ninja the instant he recognized him.
"You!" He stomped right to Cold Shadow and... grabbed him and shook him, more out of sheer annoyance than murderous intent. "It's about time you came back! I said, 'Within the hour!' Not, 'At your convenience!' You simpering fool--where is the money?"
It was obvious that the Phantom Blot thought he was speaking to the impostor, not to the real Cold Shadow. Or was it an act?

Missed?! How careless of me! He cursed himself inwardly as he felt his wooden staff strike not flesh and bone, but the solid surface of an old, rotten chair which burst into splinters from the strike. Destroying hapless, elderly furniture was fairly low down on the ninja's to-do list at present, nor was he a licensed interior decorator by any means.
The shadowy vigilante visibly tensed as he heard the voice of his nemesis shout in his direction, his teeth bared in a grimace of contempt as the Blot spoke in that smug, aristocratic manner of his. He prepared to follow up his last swing with a new when he felt himself be suddenly grabbed by the suave criminal. He was shaken where he stood by the man, though not in any way where bodily injury was intended. Cold Shadow's face lost all expression as the Phantom Blot spoke, apparently confusing him for his own henchman. Maybe he wears a blindfold, too, the bewildered stealth master mused to himself at the strange display of ignorance on his foe's part. No; it had to be some sort of trick. But, whatever the Blot was scheming, Cold Shadow would have none of it.
For whatever the reason; for however his nemesis had managed to confuse him for the cowardly double who had sullied his reputation; this was it. The duck's heart quickened its pace at the prospect that the game was coming to an end, with him standing as the victor. He had the Blot here, right in front of him, trapped in a warehouse. Not only that, but the Dream League were right outside. But he didn't need them. This was his moment, not Duck Avenger's or Dreamchild's or Bongo's. He was going to subdue his long-sought adversary, once and for all.
Rather than push the Blot off of him, he did just the opposite; he reached out and grabbed him by the forearms, drawing him close enough so that the man's masked face would be right in front of his own bill. "Sorry to keep you waiting." He said in a dark, ominous tone which seemed to drip with venom and spite. Still holding his nemesis (practically in a death-grip), he made a leg sweep with one of his webbed feet, intent on buckling the Blot's legs out from under him and sending him to the ground.

The Blot's vertical eyes narrowed into demonic slits when his 'associate' spoke darkly. The Blot's suspicions were confirmed when a sudden sweep of Cold Shadow's leg resulted in the Blot losing his balance. He tumbled to the floor and landed on his back, but in a swift twirl, he spun, jumped to his feet, and pulled out a gun from inside his cloak. It wasn't an attractive pistol by any stretch of the imagination. It didn't reflect light too well, and it wasn't sleek and stylish like what you'd find in a thriller. Nevertheless, it could kill, which is what mattered the most.
The Blot clicked the safety off of the gun, as he aimed it squarely at the duck, who was the closest he had to a nemesis. "Well, my friend, I suppose you've already taken care of my hired help. What a pity." His deep, aristocratic voice burned with (controlled) contempt, directed to the ninja. "But now that you're here, we can settle our disagreements once and for all!"

The moment the Blot struck the ground from his leg-sweep, the avian ninja had brought down his staff over where his head had initially been. Though the spry criminal managed to slip out of harm's way, resulting in the wooden pole hitting the floor and producing a loud echo which resonated throughout the formerly-abandoned warehouse.
When Cold Shadow heard the familiar click of a gun's safety being disengaged, he made haste in getting himself out of the line of fire. Planting his staff on the dusty floor, he pole-vaulted himself skyward, then thrust out his staff again and caught it through the bottom of a support beam in the rafters. He swung from his staff like an agile gymnast, dislodging his weapon and landing behind the Blot before crouching low. He then proceeded to bum-rush the hooded miscreant with a series of strikes from his staff, as well as some webbed-kicks thrown in for good measure, all the while dipping and dodging, making his movements erratic enough that it would be nearly impossible to properly take aim to shoot at him. It was a tactic he sometimes had to employ against shady sorts armed with firearms. Though he typically preferred ambushing them from the shadows, that tactic had failed in this situation, and thus he had to improvise.

There was no doubt that the ninja preferred to work alone. Judging by how swift and distant the ninja was, he was definitely a lone ranger, and wished to fight crime alone, without an intervention of any kind. Duck Avenger knew this, but he didn't care! This was made evident when he crashed through the warehouse's window, effectively ruining any hope for the ninja to bring an end to the Blot alone.
Having crashed through the window, triangular shards of glass sprayed everywhere. The Avenger landed gracefully on his yellow-booted feet, his right fist slamming on the floor. He always wanted to do that! But, disappointingly, this only hurt his right hand. He shook it rapidly and rubbed it, but, otherwise, pretty cool entrance!
The Avenger pointed a finger at the Blot and was ready to say something tough, but, as it turned out, the ninja was kicking the tobacco juice out of the guy. Where's the fun now?
"Guess I waited too long," he said, annoyed.

The Blot scowled in frustration when the ninja launched himself out of point-blank range. The thief grumbled just before Cold Shadow commenced repeated strikes and kicks against him. He tried to take aim with his firearm, but it was useless; the ninja far surpassed him in agility. Despite his best efforts to block the attacks, he was outmatched. The Phantom Blot considered his options even as he was repeatedly struck like a punching bag, grunting with each impact. Maybe if he could make for the shadows, he could blend right in, and use that to his advan--
A loud noise accompanied with a burst of glass shards interrupted the Blot's thoughts. He gazed at the intruder with wide, surprised eyes.
"Another duck?"
As jarring as the Avenger's intrusion was, it succeeded in distracting the Blot, who was now completely open to be subdued.

Not even the rude interruption by Duck Avenger could have distracted Cold Shadow from his task, as he was as determined as ever to finally bring the Phantom Blot to justice. And yet the same could not be said for the Blot, who was noticeably distracted by the appearance of another masked hero breaking onto the scene.
The shadowy ninja took advantage of the villain's lapse in concentration, first striking at the firearm in his hand to knock it away before lunging toward him in an effort to pin him to the ground, with aid from his wooden staff which he pressed (hard) against the Blot's back. He then quickly brandished some lengths of cord he kept in his costume for such occasions, working quickly to bind the man's arms and legs.

The Blot felt a strike on his hand. His hand loosened and his firearm dropped to the wooden floor. He wasn't quick enough to stop the blindfolded duck; the ninja lunged into him and pinned him to the floor, and roughly forced his staff on the pinned phantom's back. The Blot used all his might to try and rock Cold Shadow off of his back, or to roll over, but his limbs were caught. He could feel the cords right now, to bind his arms and legs together.
His white eyes scowled back to Cold Shadow... at least, as best as he could. "You annoying, blindfolded miscreant!" Then he glared icily at the intruding duck, whom he now recognized as a new hero in town: the Duck Avenger, one of those new hooligans who fancied themselves 'heroes.' "So, you found out Cold Shadow was framed? And here I was expecting you to catch the real ninja and turn him over to the authorities!"
The Blot grunted and again tried to break himself free, rocking and squirming under the ninja's power.

Duck Avenger watched Cold Shadow subdue his enemy. He folded his arms on his black and red spandex-clad chest and shrugged his shoulders. "Not bad. I could'a taken him down in half the time, but not bad." He looked back to the window he came from, when he heard Dreamchild enter and scold him. He had rushed inside against Dreamchild's wishes, so, naturally, the girl was giving him a (mental) earful.
"It's too late," he replied to Dreamchild. "He's already got the guy."

The young and feminine Dreamchild levitated and carefully entered through the shattered window. She made certain to avoid the broken shards of glass. As she entered, she noted that the real Cold Shadow was in the final process of capturing the Phantom Blot. So, the Blot was the true criminal behind this whole affair. He looked like a tall, black ghost.
As her boots landed on the floor, she stared at Duck Avenger with an irritated expression. "I said, 'We should enter the warehouse and be quiet about it.' Have you never read the definition of 'quiet' before, Duck Avenger?"
She folded her arms on her chest and watched Cold Shadow handle the Blot. "I think this is a personal dispute, Avenger. Perhaps we should only help if Mr. Shadow asks for it?"

The last of the heroic trio to enter the warehouse was Bongo. He was considerably less agile than Duck Avenger, and did not have Dreamchild's levitation capabilities, so entering through the broken window proved difficult for the clumsy little bear. Eager to catch up to his comrades and join the fray, but also mindful of the pointed shards of glass, he crept through the window with both caution and haste. Amazingly, he made it through unscathed - but not without falling face-first onto the warehouse's wooden floor (conveniently away from any glass shards).
The bear was quick to lift his head back up and look all around him with a confused face that seemed to say, "what'd I miss?" Then, however, he saw him - the crook they were tracking down this whole time! The Phantom Blot! At least, he was pretty confident that was him. He looked like a phantom and a blot.
Immediately, Bongo assumed a battle-ready position, making a pugnacious frown and placing both fists in front of him in a boxing-style stance. He was eager as always to lay the hurt on a baddie - but ended up not doing anything, as, when he looked to his teammates, they were just standing by and watching. Bongo tilted his head at them in befuddlement, before glancing back at the confrontation between Cold Shadow and the Blot.
... They would get to fight him too, right?

After placing his staff in its respective sheath upon his back, the ninja hoisted the nefarious criminal to his feet. Though the Phantom Blot’s legs were bound, he would at least be able to stand upright with the vigilante duck’s support. And 'support' the criminal he did, for he held an iron grip over the scoundrel’s arms. “You’re finished, Blot! The only ones being turned over to the authorities tonight will be you and your incompetent lackey!” He sternly informed the subdued antagonist in his usual gruff, altered Cold Shadow voice.
His head turned toward Duck Avenger at his comments, though the ninja naturally wasn’t officially 'looking' at him, being blindfolded and all. “In half of the time, huh? Now, is that accounting for the time spent pursuing the wrong person, or do you time that separately?” He retorted sharply and coldly to the other vigilante duck’s smug comment. His head then moved slowly and deliberately, as though he were staring-down each of the Dream League members in turn. He could have stated that they had no business taking the law into their own hands, but then how hypocritical would that have been of him? Seeing as he served the law as his alter-ego, he felt he was in a better position for this dubious task, but that was another matter.
“Hm. I suppose we’re destined to cross paths again.” Was all he ultimately said. As he spoke, he had managed to remove an object from inside of his costume unnoticed, which he quickly threw against the ground at his feet once he had finished his statement. There was a burst of rapid, flashing lights before a thick, purple smoke billowed through the room, filling the area in an obscuring haze. When the purple smoke dissipated moments later, both the ninja and his prisoner had vanished from sight.
For Duck Avenger and Bongo, that was that. But for the sole psychic in the midst, one final, closing statement was issued. <<You have a lot of courage for someone so young. Just don’t do anything reckless in the future, alright?>> The message informed her, and genuine concern was apparent. And with that, the ninja vanished to everyone, including the telepath.

Dreamchild, despite being on Duck Avenger's 'side,' smirked a little when Duck Avenger's cocky and smug comment was met with a comeback from the ninja. It was clear that said ninja wasn't too pleased with the Dream League as a whole, but Dreamchild wasn't too offended, because she did feel absolutely capable and competent. Now that she knew what to expect from Cold Shadow, she knew she could really demonstrate herself to him if they had a next episode. There was no hope for asking Cold Shadow to join the Dream League now, so she wondered if this fellow vigilante would butt heads with them, or simply aid them in the future?
Dreamchild's head perked up and she gasped softly when she picked up a thought from Cold Shadow, a direct comment meant only for her. He pointed out her young age, and told her not to do anything reckless. While Dreamchild was thankful that so many adults were concerned, even disapproving of such a young girl fighting crime, it did get a little old at the same time. <<Thank you,>> she replied, <<but you needn't worry about me. Take care.>> But she didn't know if her thoughts reached him, because she lost mental connection with him just then.
She furrowed her brows and tilted her head downward as she pondered. She recalled Cold Shadow mentally referring to himself as Maui Mallard. It seemed indisputable that it was Cold Shadow's real name. But she would keep this information private. After all, she'd hate for her own cover to be blown.

Duck Avenger's expression changed from smug amusement to irritation. He sneered at the ninja, almost regretful that said ninja was blindfolded and couldn't see the sneer. The Avenger waited until the ninja departed with the Blot (who scowled and cursed the whole time), and for the exit-friendly smoke to clear, before he made one last comment regarding Cold Shadow.
"Sorry, I don't understand how you feel, 'cause I didn't let myself get framed." He shrugged his shoulders and faced his two teammates. "Well, it looks like the show's over. ... DC? Something up?" He noticed Dreamchild's obviously ponderous expression, and he twisted his bill in curiosity.

Dreamchild lifted her head and looked like a deer in headlights for one second. "Hm? Oh! Nothing. I was just wondering if... we would see him again. After all, he's a vigilante, too. I think it's obvious we'll see him again in the future." She paused then sighed in slight disappointment. "This was a very awkward first meeting, I must say. But at least the Blot is taken care of." She looked to Bongo and smiled like a playful older sister. "Maybe we'll get to fight bad men next time."
