Real Name: Howell Jenkins
Alias: Howl; Pendragon; Jenkins
Age: 27
Species: Human
Sex: Male
Nationality: Unknown
Alignment: Often ambiguous, though ultimately good-natured
Affiliated With: Calcifer; Markl
Status: Active
Physical Description (Body structure, eye color, hair color, etc.): He is an astonishingly handsome, sexually-attractive young man. His body structure and facial features are a paragon example of human, masculine beauty. He has a light skin tone. His medium-long hair falls to just above his shoulders, and is naturally a navy blue coloration, though he has been known to change it to other colors, most notably blond. His eyes are sky blue in coloration.
Appearance (Dream League): While Howl typically doesn′t wear any specific costume or getup from that which he wears in his usual, day-to-day life, he is capable of altering his clothes, as well as his physical appearance, through the use of magic.
Appearance (Outside of Costume): Commonly wears a white, long-sleeved, collared dress shirt with loose, slightly puffy sleeves. The shirt is tucked into black pants. His feet are attired in black dress shoes. Wears a silver ring on his right index finger with a red stone set in its center. Around his neck he wears a gold necklace with a large, tea-shaped sapphire which hangs over his chest. Both of his ears are pierced with dangling earrings which feature tear-shaped, green gemstones. Sometimes wears a primarily pink coat with blue-green, diamond-shaped patterns on all save the sleeves and collar, which are entirely salmon pink. The collar is raised, with a gold trim. The wide sleeves end in yellow bands with gold trim flanking the top and bottom. When the coat is worn it is worn over his shoulders, though he does not place his arms through the sleeves. While in casual situations he will wear a more informal white shirt, with no collar and short sleeves.
Abilities and Powers: Howl is a powerful wizard, capable of casting certain spells with little more than a flick of the wrist, without a need for incantations or magical items (though for some spells he requires the aforementioned commodities). He can control the bodily actions of the weak-of-mind, fly, walk in midair, summon lightning bolts, turn himself (and others) invisible for several minutes at a time, create illusionary duplicates of himself (and others), and shape-shift into numerous different forms. The full extent of his magical capabilities are unknown. He is also entirely immune to the damaging effects of heat and fire, likely due to his pact with a fire demon.
He also bears the ability (and burden) of being able to transform into an inhuman, bird-like demon, with varying stages to said form. The transformation can be willing, or can occur against Howl′s will through overuse of his powers, or through the magic of others, forcing him to keep himself in check.
Weaknesses: As a child, Howl formed a pact with the fire demon, Calcipher. As a result Howl forfeit his heart, and with it, a piece of his own humanity. A curse which resulted from the pact was that Howl would gradually transform into a black-feathered, bird-like demon under certain circumstances, such as overuse of magic. With each transformation was a chance that Howl would be unable to revert back to his human form, and would lose all memories of his human self, becoming a mindless, savage beast permanently. The further Howl goes into his transformation, the higher the odds of reaching a point-of-no-return. Another condition of the pact was that Howl and Calcifer′s lives became intertwined. If Calcifer were to die, Howl would also perish, and vice-versa.
Howl also has some personality flaws working against him. His moods can vary from day to day, and even from moment to moment. He could be utterly depressed one minute, then chipper and optimistic the next, with little to no transitional stages between the two extremes. Often selfish, he is prone to having fits, temper-tantrums, and bouts of depression when things don′t go a direction he desires. He is also vain; he is fully aware that he is an attractive man, and makes great efforts in preserving his appearance.
He has little to no sense of responsibility, and would prefer to use his magic as a free-spirit than for the sake of anyone, or anything, else. He is a shameless coward, as well as passive aggressive, and is known to either ignore his problems or run away from them as opposed to confronting them like a man.
Lastly, his womanizing tendencies can often get him into trouble.
Accessories: Howl possesses numerous magical artifacts, trinkets, and potions. Just how many he possesses is unknown, and he is creating new ones all the time.
Character Information (Personality & Motivation): Much of Howl′s past is shrouded in mystery. He hails from an alternate reality, though the specifics of his home world are unknown. As a young boy he was taken in as the last, and most promising, pupil of Suliman, an extremely capable master sorceress. He made unprecedented progress in his magical studies, though one day he made a pact with a fire demon named Calcifer, in order to save the life of the demon, at which time he lost his heart. It was then that he discontinued his apprenticeship with Suliman, running away and vanishing for some years.
In the time which followed he constructed a monstrous, moving castle, which was both powered and piloted by Calcifer. Howl continued to study magic independently, perfecting his craft on his own. He also took-in an apprentice, a young boy named Markl. However, while studying under Suliman, Howl consented to the agreement that he would be obligated to respond to any summons issued by the monarch of the kingdom he presided in. The contract he signed was binding, and even the irresponsible Howl was powerless to ignore his oath. In an attempt to reduce the odds of being summoned, Howl perpetuated rumors about himself, sullying his own name and reputation in order to make himself appear undesirable and dangerous to the royal families, hence reducing the odds of them wishing to call upon his aid. Howl also adopted numerous aliases and personas, making his official identity and affiliation to any particular kingdom ambiguous.
Shirking responsibility and running away from his problems rather than addressing them, Howl ultimately uncovered an alternate dimension through the use of his magic. Deciding he would escape his responsibilities permanently, he traveled to the new world to begin his free-spirited lifestyle with a clean slate, in a place where no one knew his name, his oath, or his reputation. Once in the new world, he made his way to Calisota, a city in the United States of America. Both Markl and Calcifer accompanied him for the journey, along with his intricate, mobile castle.
Though surrounded by vicious rumors (of his own design) and carrying some rather unappealing personality traits, Howl is an innately empathetic and caring individual, even though his complex motivations and outlook on situations can make his feelings difficult for others to discern. He detests war and violence, and avoids them whenever possible. Though powerful, he is far from malicious, and very rarely employs his magic to harm or curse his adversaries, preferring non-violent alternatives and passive-aggressive compromises. He prefers flight over fight, and will often evade his enemies altogether, rather than confront them. He is very secretive, and strives to keep it that way. He is a shameless connoisseur of attractive women, and the bedfellows he′s taken over the years have often resulted in more trouble for the wizard; particularly when he breaks the heart of a woman who seeks vengeance against him.
