The jungle was relatively quite, it usually was by mid-afternoon. Most animal resting during the hottest most humid part of the day. Occasionally a bird would give a lazy cry or the sound of a cricket would make it past the sound of the river.
A few flies buzzed around, one landing on the ear of a sleeping lion. Simba's ear twitched and he gave a yawn, watching the fly buzz off. He stretched and shook his mane out, before walking towards the river.
He'd had a strange dream, again, a mis-mash of images and memories. It always left he a little shaken, but he'd force the worry away and tested the river water before grinning and leaping in with only a small splash.

Terk had been napping in the trees a little further down stream, but a rumble in her stomach made her stretch and climb down to the jungle floor.
"All right- I know there's a papaya tree around here somewhere." she made a face at the heat, but she could always sit in the shade after she hunted down something to eat.

The lion floated down the river on his back, humming a song contentedly before his ear twitched at the familiar voice. Rolling over he sunk down enough to be hidden by the water. He spotted Terk searching the trees for something; either Tarzan or fruit.
Slipping onto the shore he hid in some bushes as the gorilla made her way closer. With a soft growl and flick of his tail he narrowed his eyes before giving a loud growl and pouncing the ape.
"Gotcha!"

Terk only had about two seconds to look up before she was pounced by the lion.
"WHOA!!" she amanged to yelp as the two tumbled a bit, Terk trying to wrestle the lion off her.
She managed to grab him in a headlock, laughing in triumph, "Who's got who now Grub?"

"Ah! Ok! Uncle uncle!" He gave a pant as she let go and he fell to the dusty ground. He rolled over on his back- giving an innocent grin.
"Hi Terk."

Terk smirked proudly, folding her arms as the lion settled himself.
"Ya know- one a these days your gonna give someone a heart attack!" she joked, flinging a small bit of river mud at him.
"What are you doing awake anyways? Ain't ya usually sleepin' this time of the day?" Actually if she thought on it he was usually sleeping most of the day away.
"Or are you huntin' papaya's too?"

"It's too hot to sleep" he answered as honestly as possible (not about to mention he'd been woken up by a bad dream ) "Hey!" he made a face at the feeling of the mud before deciding it was nice and cool and rolling into a bit more. Hey, it worked for Pumbaa >> "Though papaya's do sound good right now..." he sat up, some of the mud caked on his right flank, "Found any yet?"

She watched him roll in the mud- which sounded like a good idea, but first her stomach needed to be fed.
"Nah- I just started lookin' anyways. Course with my luck those baboons have been through here a'ready." She flicked a bit of mud off her paw.
"Which means we got nothin' but grubs and papaya skins left."

Simba sighed at that, "You might be right- I haven't heard them lately though, maybe we're having my luck!"
He stood up and shook the mud off, chuckling at Terk's indignant 'Hey!'. He shook his head to get his mane out of his eyes before padding towards the interior of the jungle.
"Well? You wanna beat those monkeys to the fruit?" he'd laid his ears back- obviously a challenge to the female ape.
"First one to the old papaya tree gets first pick!" With that he leaped into the jungle underbrush.

"Wha? Hey! No fair ya got a head start!!!" With a playful growl she took to the trees, using the overlapping branches to race through the canopy- keeping an eye on the beige lion beneath her.

She had to return to Opar as quickly as possible. The jewel in her staff had begun to glow, which had set her senses to danger. Which was why the Queen of the Leopards found herself rushing through the vines and treetops of the jungle, her hands firmly clasping a bundle.
Such was her hurry that she did not see the ape racing through the trees just ahead of her. Until she crashed into Terk and sent them both tumbling to the ground.
La managed to hold back a pained yelp, landing gracefully on all fours.

While La had managed a somewhat dignified fall- Terk had given a loud yelp and landed in a heap. She groaned and rubbed her shoulder, turning around to give whoever knocked her silly a good sized piece of her mind.
"What the heck's your problem! Can't ya watch where ya goin'?" She yelled, giving a gasp when she realized who she was talking to.
"You!"

Simba skidded to a stop when he heard the crash and Terk's yelling. He could only shake his head in exasperation before padding back through the jungle.
He stopped just behind Terk, tilting his head at the strange white-haired woman. She looked like the same sort of animal Tarzan was only with different colored hair.
"Who are you?" he asked, glancing at Terk- apparently they knew each other.

La sneered, of all the creatures to run into in the vast jungle- it had to be Tarzan's little fleabag friends. She growled, holding the bundle behind her.
"I am Queen La- Priestess of Opar." she said in a rush, obviously not wanting to stay more then she could afford.
"I've no business with either of you." she hissed out before heading back up into the canopy and towards her city.

Terk watched the woman leave, waving her off and heading towards Simba.
"Eh, good riddance, she's more trouble then a heard of hippos."

Simba watched the woman until he could no longer see her, before focusing back on Terk as the ape moved past him.
"Opar...isn't that where the leopards are?"
He was a little curious about the other big cats in the jungle; back...then, the lions had been the only big predators around.

Terk had ignored the woman the moment she started talking and was actually starting on her way towards the papya tree again. The female ape waved her arm in an annoyed gesture.
"Yeah, yeah- it's an old city. Place is fallin' apart if ya ask me."

He followed after Terk, "You've been there before right?" the lion looked over his shoulder- La no longer viable even to his predator eyes.
"Did you see what she was holding?"

Terk raised an eyebrow, "Yeah I was there- like I said there isn't anything to it. Come on- I can smell those papaya's from 'ere."
She paused half way up a tree, hanging from one of the lower branches, "Am I hearing correctly? You wanna follower her don't cha."

Simba paused, his ears standing up in surprise, before a small devious grin appeared on his muzzle.
"Follow here? Terk, that's a great idea!" He ran up to her, tugging her leg carefully.
"Come on- before we lose her."
In all honesty, Simba was more curious about this Opar and finding more big cats like him in the jungle. It was one thing to deal with the leopards and panthers that he encountered on occasion, but an entire city of them? The draw was too much and while his curiosity had tempered since that incident; some things were just too good too pass up!

"Whoa! Hey watch it!" Terk flailed a bit before climbing down, she didn't want to get knocked off thanks to that crazy lion.
She shook her head, "Your crazy you know that?" fighting leopards when they attacked was one thing, but willingly heading to their den. No way!
The female gorilla sat down and leaned against the tree, "You want to go so bad...go- But I'm staying right here."

Simba had sat down, tail flicking in amusement at the gorilla. He gave a half-hearted shrug and stood up, turning to face the way La had gone.
"All right. I'll see you around!"
With an obvious bounce he started off after La.

Terk's eyes widened, the crazy cat was really going?! If anything happened to him, oh boy. She stood up and ran a bit before slowing down.
"Fine! If you wind up turned into one of her cat bodyguards, don't come cryin' ta me!"
She tsked, debating on whether to follow him; or go get Tarzan to do it.

Simba smiled and shook his head before shouting back to Terk, "I'll be back! Don't worry!"

The gorilla hmphed and plopped back down, "Don't worry he says. He's got no idea what he's getting into."
She sighed and shook her haed, heading back into the trees to wait for something to happen.
Hopefully it wouldn't be something bad.
