The Story of Jessica and Femme
[/u][/center]Since she was small Jessica Krupnick had been told she was destined for great things in life. Considered to be the epitome of beauty by many, she left home after school to pursue a modeling career and became one of the most featured women in the magazine “Brush Strokes.” Though the few years she worked as a model certainly helped pay the rent, Jessica’s real passion was singing and she eventually left modeling to chase this dream. Jessica was a package deal in that industry- she had the looks, the voice, the moves, and although she managed to make a local name for herself in Toon Town, performing in all kinds of venues, it was difficult making any headway beyond – the music industry was a tough nut to crack. Despite the sultry smooth tones of her voice, Jessica knew people- men- were flocking to her performances to ogle her body more than anything- and though she took full advantage of that, she wanted more for herself and transferred to the Ink & Paint Club in Epcot City as a top billing performer there. Based on the advice of her agent, Jessica had her name legally changed to Jessica Rabbit.
Epcot City threw open all kinds of doors for Jessica and she quickly rose to the top as a performer, high in demand, gathering star status. Being successful was something Jessica desired, becoming famous was not but she played the game well. A kind, loving, friendly person at heart, Jessica’s aloofness in public turned out to be her biggest strength; it allowed her to market herself without sacrificing her true self and by giving very little away it only made people want her more. It was therefore easy for Jessica to blend and adapt to an image that needed very little from her to maintain. With her natural charm and patience, most reviews of Jessica have been favourable; in addition to her iconic status as sex symbol, the mysterious siren has also been notably considered to be a self-confident, sophisticated, and independent woman. Her love for animals shows a softer side and she publicly supports local charities that provide aid to them.
Of course it can’t all be fuzzy bunnies and rainbows for Ms Rabbit. An unfortunate tabloid scandal led to her seeking a double life as a private investigator. It began as small pieces of gossip saying slanderous things like Jessica actually wore fur or she lip synched to pre-recorded songs sung by someone else, trifles that celebrities had to face every day and usually ignored. It was only when she was accused of sleeping with notable figures such as R.K. Maroon and Marvin Acme to get her way to the top that she decided she needed to take action, particularly since this rumor had made its way into the Epcot Herald, a reputable newspaper. Her lawyer advised her to sue the papers printing this filth; the men featured in the sex scandal stories would not come forward and deny them- who wouldn’t want to be linked to Jessica Rabbit in that manner- but Jessica feared that this would only add fuel to the fire and she wanted to keep out of it as much as possible. People would believe what they wanted to in the end and even staying quiet might be enough to convince some that the rumors were true- she needed to find absolute proof that they were not if she planned on saving face. It was a pity that she even had to defend herself against events that never occurred, but this was the ugly side to being a celebrity.
Adopting a disguise (which really only required a change of clothes seeing as she was always seen in the same attire otherwise) Jessica used her womanly wiles and an alternate name to track down the gossiping fiend, only to find out that the person hell bent on ruining her turned out to be a former actress, envious of Jessica’s success. The woman was an aging and faded character actor from Toon Town who worked all her life to make it to the top but never quite made that A-List grade, even though she had earned some good reviews here and there in her day. As her alter ego, Jessica exposed the woman who seemed satisfied to see her name in the papers once again, even if she was being portrayed as a jealous witch, starved for attention; she was eventually carted away to D’Arque Asylum.
In tracking down the actress, Jessica realized she could lead another kind of life, one that left her completely out of the spotlight as Jessica Rabbit. Deciding to pursue this newfound freedom, Jessica set up her own business as a private detective under the name Femme Fatale. None would ever know her true identity. Epcot City’s police department soon learned of Femme Fatale and occasionally recruited her in secret to aid them in catching crooks that haunted the city. Even then only a select few know of her assistance and she is as much a mystery to them as she is to everyone else.
Femme Fatale keeps her door open to anyone, even accepting cases from the same seedy characters the police are hoping to catch. She finds value in playing the same social game she learned as Jessica, adept at manipulation and exposing her clients’ weaknesses while still keeping her own defenses up. It should be noted when dealing with criminals Jessica will always do what is morally right, secretly feeding information to the police and aiding the crook until they are caught at the appropriate time, all without revealing her role to the villain. Since her involvement with the police must also be kept secret in order for her to play this double-role, only a few aside from Chief O’Hara know that she works alongside them.
