I just don't think 3D is any great shakes.
I did see one hand-drawn in 3D, just to see what it looked like. It was okay, but nothing to pay extra for.

I think 3D only works if it enhances the film, which I have seen happen on a few occasions, Coraline probably being the best example. But most of the time it's just a gimmick. The Lion King gained nothing from the treatment. All it got were muted colors (because of the lenses) and bulging muzzles. lol
I love watching Disney classics in theatrical re-releases, but I confess I have not attended the 3D converted ones.
Edit: That's another thing. So far, the 3D conversions were either CGI films or animated films using CAPS. Because Mermaid is mostly hand-painted, I have a sinking sensation (derp) that it would have looked even more off-putting. That's not to knock on hand-painted goodness, but I just feel that Mermaid would have looked the most out of place with the conversion.
So, again, I'm not gonna lose sleep over this.
