The longstanding feud between Star Wars and Star Trek might actually be laid to rest. ... Probably not. But guess who's directing Disney's Star Wars Episode VII (2015)? J.J. Abrams, the man who directed Star Trek (2009) and the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). Wrap your brain around that one! Disney is making sure that Star Wars VII is moving along briskly. You gotta hand it to them, they really wasted no time at all after acquiring LucasFilms. I'm fine with Abrams directing, but I just hope there won't be any flare overkill in the movie. Seriously. The flares are obnoxious. And, if I may offer my opinion once again, I'm cautiously optimistic about the next Star Wars, because--the way I see it--there is no way it could be any worse than Episodes I and II. What are your thoughts? Source: www.ign.com/articles/2013/01/26/disney-lucasfilm-officially-announce-as-jj-abrams-as-star-wars-episode-vii-director

Eh, it honestly could've been much......MUCH worse. They could've picked M. Night Shaymalan, Tommy Wiseau, Uwe Boll, Michael Bay...the list goes on of what cruddy director could've gotten it instead. And yeah, after Episode 1,2 and 3? I don't think they (meaning Disney...those other directors I listed? I'd be more afraid.) could do anything worse to Star Wars than George Lucas did after the first 3 movies were done. xD (Star Wars Christmas Special anyone? )

No established company would ever take him on. He has to get his own funding to make his horrific films, haha. I'm curious to see how this will turn out. I'm not excited, just curious. Preferably I'd have liked for the trio of films to have stayed a trio, but seeing as that's long-since been ruined (well, it was even before the prequels, if you count the Expanded Universe as being canon - and I know how much you love Zorba the Hutt, Joe!) there's no more harm to really be done. Even if Episode VII is awful... well, we can just add it to the pile of awful Star Wars films.

Well, naturally, I hope it's great. We shall see.
