Name: Eilonwy.
Alias: Princess.
Age: Fourteen.
Is From: The Black Cauldron.
Species: Human.
Height: 5'3".
Weight: Slender.
Gender: Female.
Likes: Meeting new people,Taran Taran Taran her friends, sewing, sparing/practising her defense skills, swords, polite/charming persons, her bauble/other types of white magic, talking...oh my, talking (!), being in control, action and exploring.
Dislikes: Getting dismissed/degraded because she's a 'girl,' being bossed around, getting mistaken for a 'maid/servant' because of her appearance, frogs (!), evil witches, The Horned King, her friends hurt and impolite/childish people, being ordered around (namely as a princess).
Normal Attire: A just below the knee length type of dress, which could be considered a top and skirt, in mismatching colours.
Powers: N/A, apart from her bauble of light, that switches it's colours depending on the environment. It's mainly used like a torch, but it can pick up things that can't be seen by normal human eyes. She comes from a line of enchantresses, but because of her stubborness towards learning, her magic is severly hindered.
Strengths: Good listener, very headstrong and brave, skilled in weaponry and fighting.
Weaknesses: Talking too much, starting things she can’t finish, bossy from time to time, can be quite aggressive towards people if they tick her off, never knows how or when to make up her mind on things.
Allied with: Taran, Fflewder, Gurgi.
Mortal Enemy: The Horned King.
Personality:
Although Eilonwy is a royal princess, she prefers not to be acknowledged by titles or anything like that, preferring to be treated as a normal person rather than anything special. She shows good manners, and is polite, though she will always speak her mind, never hiding her true thoughts on what her opinions are. This has caused some conflict in the past with others, but Eilonwy can hold her own in an argument, or even a fight, often over-powering some of her companions with her outright fierceness. Her temperament is quite limited, and she will blow her top is something you say to her is interpreted as an insult. She doesn’t take a lot of jokes and humour well, and many a time this has been the cause of her frustration.
She is the kind of person who can talk for anyone. Even if there isn’t much conversation going on between people, she will always be the one who will engage in conversation, whether she has something important to say, or whether it’s just total nonsense that she’s thought of on the spot. If something happens, whether it’s a huge event or a small one, questions will be flying left, right and center…and they will always mostly be coming from a certain blonde. She always wants to know more about others, and is never satisfied with the information she gathers. She never acts like she is better than anyone else, and usually places herself below or on par with others. Though she has a tested temper, Eilonwy's heart in always in the right place, and she shows a kind, good-hearted demeanor to those she considers friends.
History:
Eilonwy was born into a royal family, but not just any kind of royal family. Whilst her father had originally been a commoner, it was her mother's side that this made this family unlike many others. Eilonwy, like her mother, had come from a long line of formidable enchantresses, so from the moment she was born, it was obvious the girl would inherit that power. Growing into a child, it was clear that Eilonwy didn't want to spend her days learning the proper ways of being a princess, or even being a member of royalty at all, and she often went against what she was taught.
As a child, living near a huge forest, Eilonwy would often take trips [well, escpae more likely] out there by herself, preferring to be out in the open with the animals and nature than being in that dull palace, learning about things that would never benefit her future. She had some skill in sorcery, and managed to conjure up a glowing bauble for herself, which helped her out in those dark places. It also served as some sort of companion and friend to the much-lonely princess, too.
One sunny lit day, as she was walking through the forest, an unknown force swept her off her feet and knocked her out. Waking up, she found herself in a dungeon! Overhearing people about, she learned that the Horned King was capturing people and using their powers to find the lost ‘Black Cauldron.’ Knowing she had to escape, Eilonwy started exploring round the huge dungeons, and eventually stumbled across another prisoner, a boy a little older than her, by the name of Taran. Together, the two of them found another prisoner, an old minstrel, who went by the name of Fflewder Fflam. The three managed to escape the palace, but knew that the Horned King and his minions were still after them.
Finding refuge in the forest, an argument broke out between Taran and Eilonwy. Eilonwy ran off in tears, but knew that they were both in the wrong and had to stick together to get out of this mess. Both agreeing, they went back to Fflewder, who was being attacked by a strange furry animal, who was later identified by Taran as Gurgi. While the males found him to be annoying and cowardly, Eilonwy found him to be quite the charmer, and intelligent in helping them find Taran’s pig, Hen-wen. In a struggle with an enchanted lake, all are transported to the fairies realm, when Taran finds his pig. All go to a dreary place called, which is where the find a cottage, belonging to three old witches, who trade Taran’s sword for the cauldron. Around this point is when Eilonwy starts to have feelings for Taran, but she won’t admit it.
Ironically, all three are captured again by the Horned King, who attempts to being his undead army to life. Gurgi jumps into the cauldron, which destroys the ‘cauldron born’ but also killing Gurgi. Eilonwy felt so upset at that point, and couldn’t believe he was gone. Taran pleaded with the witch to bring him back, and they did. By a miracle, Gurgi survived, and also brought Eilonwy and Taran to confess their feelings for each other in a kiss.
Now, with great reluctance, Eilonwy is back at the castle, where she is still enduring such frivolous lessons - well, to her, at least. Her Aunt Achren is still around, too, and Eilonwy is beginning to suspect that she isn't all she appears to be - for one, it seems the woman is far more interested in her niece's sorcery skill than her
[Some of the history may be incorrect to the books, I'm purely extending the history from the film version, adding in what I know of the books. I plan to read them very soon though - so watch this space!]
