That Vampires Suck thread got me thinking of starting a thread like this. What are some movies that you like and/or love that aren't Disney?
My favorite films tend to be all over the place. Here's an example: my favorite movies include The Wizard of Oz, Gremlins, Fiddler on the Roof, No Country for Old Men, Grave of the Fireflies, Edward Scissorhands, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Secret of NIMH, Die Hard, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, The Goonies, Psycho (original), Ghostbusters, and John Carpenter's The Thing.
Yes, yes, I know, No Country was distributed by then-Disney owned Miramax, but eh!

Like you, Joe, my films aren't exactly consistent in terms of their genres. My absolute favourites have to be: Back to the Future, Gremlins I & II, Fright Night [even the sequel was good, again!] , Salem's Lot [1979] , Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, Planet Of The Apes [original] , Home Alone, Titanic, The Omen [1976 - 1981] , Harry Potter series, E.T, An American Werewolf In London, The Goonies, Beetlejuice.Yeeeah, a lot of 80's stuff there.

Off the top of my head, The Sound of Music, Tombstone, The Illusionist, A Knight's Tale, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, Ned Kelly (2003), Goodfellas, The Count Of Monte Cristo (2002), The Shawshank Redemption, Casino, The Prince Of Egypt, Rob Roy, And Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy. I'm probably missing some.

Most of mine tend to be ones that many people have neither seen nor heard of -- yes, I'm weird like that. Among them would be (in no particular order) The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm, the Dragonheart series, Hansel and Gretel (1954, 1988), The Prince of Egypt, Joseph: King of Dreams, One Night With the King, The Nativity Story, Jesus of Nazareth, The Passion of the Christ, Cheaper By the Dozen (1950), the Madea series, Robin Hood (2010), The Lion in Winter, The Sound of Music, Show Boat (1936), Skinwalkers, The Wolf Man (2010), and An American Werewolf in London. I'm also a hard Oliver Twist fanatic, though all the versions besides David Lean's, Carol Reed's, and Alan Bleasdale's should never have been made.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I've missed out on a whole lot when it comes to movies. I haven't even seen most of the great classics that most everybody else has seen dozens of times. Being an animation fanatic, most all of my favorites are animated movies, Disney-released or not; I'm aware that there are tons of other films out there that I need to give a good watch, heh.
So, excluding Disney-released Ghibli films, my favorite non-Disney animated movies include Tokyo Godfathers and Paprika (both by the recently deceased Kon Satoshi, God bless him :c), The Girl That Leapt Through Time, The Secret of NIMH, and The Iron Giant.
Outside of animation, Jurassic Park (the first film) is one of my all-time favorite movies period. I also enjoy the original Star Wars films (before Episode I), Forrest Gump, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (what? :B), Ghostbusters, Labyrinth, and Stand By Me.

Well, probably two of my absolute TOP favourites would be Step Brothers and White Chicks.
All the other movies are Tim Burton's and Vampire movies. Edward Scissorhands and The Corpse Bride were some of the best that he did.
The Lost Boys, Dracula 2000, Interview with the Vampire, off the top of my head, are my favourite Vampire movies.

Step Brothers? Isn't that the movie with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly? I love John C. Reilly! He's a favorite actor of mine.

You must see Goodfellas Hannah, it's definitely one of the best mob films ever made, IMHO. Scorsese has many terrific films under his belt, like The Departed and Cape Fear. I think that if Mrs. Brisby was to be voiced by Joe Pesci, that film's rating would've shot up to an R, lol. Hmm, oddly enough, I'm not really much of a Don Bluth fan. I think the only film of his I like is Anastasia. Oh, other non-Disney non-Bluth animated films I love are Balto and We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. Shut up.

The first person who criticizes or disses another person's list/opinion gets his or her ass kicked. Agreed? *smirk*

My bad! I meant to type Hannah and ended up putting Amanda by mistake. *ninja-edits* And I hope I wasn't coming across as being critical of other pples' film choices. If so, it was entirely unintentional, I swear.

That's okay! ^^ Freudian slips, I make them all the time. And, nope! Not at all, Nicole. Actually, I said that because, after I re-read everyone's lists, I imagined someone starting a conflict related to different tastes. Therefore I'll say this more elaborately and less vague: this is not the IMDb forum. This is just to list non-Disney movies you like, so this is no country for flame wars! Every single list here is justified and legit; there is no such thing as a wrong opinion!

LOL. Oh okay, that's good. I got paranoid for a moment there. XD I think this place is waaay more civilized then IMDB. I loathe their discussion forums; I just go there to look movie and actor info and then get the hell out of there.

Ditto. The IMDb forums are about as pleasant as bathing in sulfuric acid. ... Okay, probably not as painful, but definitely as annoying.
Creepshow! That's another I forgot to put on my list. Just remembered!

Yeah, John C Reilly is one of my favourite actors!
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. Now I haven't heard that in a LONG time! That was my favourite movie! But I lost the tape a long time ago. Balto was my not one of my favourites but The Land Before Time was fabulous! I have all of the movies!

I wasn't sure if many people still like We're Back! after the Nostalgia Critic reviewed it. While his review did open my eyes to some of the film's problems, I still like its goofy charm while also acknowledging its' flaws. I think a lot of NC's fans unfortunately tend to take everything he says as the gospel truth, instead of just forming their own opinions.
It's good to see that there are people who still fondly remember the movie. XD

Yep! Kenneth Mars. Two live-action roles of his I love are seen in The Producers and Young Frankenstein, both Mel Brooks movies.

13 Going On 30 is one I love, too. Just because it has 1980s in it. Nah, I do like besides that.

About time I posted here!
Uh, let's see...asides from Disney...
Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the original Nightmare on Elm Street (remake? what remake? there was no remake!), Creepshow, Spaceballs,Beetlejuice, Return of the Living Dead, The Indiana Jones Series, Pet Sematary, the original three Star Wars films, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Blues Brothers, Kung Fu Panda, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 and 2, The Birdcage, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Ferngully The Last Rainforest, An American Tail 1 and 2, Little Shop of Horrors (1980s musical one), and the Ghostbusters series. I'm sure there's more, but I can't think right now. x3 and yeah, there's a lot of 80's horror films on that list...what can I say? It was a good decade for horror. x3
