OOC- Eh, different time period. XD Maybe the night before Jafar goes for the book.
BIC-
Jasmine and Rajah were out in the gardens. The night was lit with lanterns the caravans had brought from the orient. Jasmine, leaning against Rajah's warm side, was looking up at the stars.
"... Can you believe its been a year since I first left the Palace?"
Her birthday was in a few days.
Rajah lifted his head and looked over at her with a worried look.
"No, I'm not escaping again." She laughed softly, petting his ears.
A circular constellation appeared stationary, but eventually it began to move. Most unusual for a group of stars.
"A whole year?" came a voice from above.
The moving constellation was suddenly blocked out by a dark object, flying above the garden. It was Carpet who was carrying Aladdin. The magic carpet swooped around for a landing and Aladdin hopped off, just before it touched the ground. He was holding something behind his back.
"You know the night you left was pretty significant for me," he said approaching her. "Even if I didn't know it until the next day." Aladdin plopped down on the grass beside her, and reached out to give Rajah a friendly pat. Even though he had earned the tiger's trust, Aladdin still wouldn't risk using him as a pillow like Jasmine was doing. A knowing grin rested on his lips.
"Still feeling trapped?"
"I brought you a present, because I think meeting you is worth a celebration."
He produced a shiny red apple. When they had first met, an apple was the first thing he had ever offered Jasmine; even if it was stolen. He tossed it up into the air, bounced it off his shoulder, the apple rolling down his arm until he nudged it in the air, sending it towards Jasmine with his elbow.
Rajah looked up and Jasmine had followed his gaze, just seeing the stars begin to move. She squinted, wondering if she was seeing things, when she heard his voice.
Rajah lay his head down again, at ease with Aladdin being there.
The Princess smiled, watching him land.
"... Sometimes I still feel that way, but... On Carpet I get a taste of real freedom."
She smiled at the friendly carpet, looking to Aladdin. She caught the apple, blushing softly. Sometimes he would bring her gifts from his adventures, but really it was gifts like these, simple ones full of meaning, that she treasured.
Laughing softly, she looked up at his eyes. "That evening was probably the first time I'd had a real conversation with anyone. ... And the first time you saved my life."
She lifted her hand, the one the vender in the market had threatened to take from her.
"In more ways than one."
Aladdin's eyes widened slightly when she showed him her hand. That had been a real close call for both Jasmine and the street vendor. The man would have most likely been sentenced to the dungeons or worse if he had cut off the princess' hand.
"Well, a princess needs all ten fingers," he said, displaying a goofy grin. He caught sight of carpet slapping a tassel to what would be the presumed place for a face if he had one. Aladdin rubbed the back of his neck nervouslly, trying to think of something to say to redeem himself from that remark.
"But- but the point is, we got you away from all that and-" he took Jasmine's hand. "So much has happened since then."
Jasmine glanced at Carpet with a knowing smirk before looking back to Aladdin. "... Any regrets?"
"Regrets? Huh! Never!" he said confidently, sticking his chin up in the air, but then looking down at Jasmine nervouslly. "W-why? You're not regretting not finding an actual prince are you?"
Her eyes widened, not at all expecting him to ask. "Oh Aladdin." She smiled, shifting to kiss his cheek. "I've never wanted anyone but you."
Aladdin's mouth formed a surprise 'o' shape and he rubbed the back of his neck after she kissed him. "I feel the same way about you." He smiled at her and looked up at the sky. "The stars are sure beautiful tonight, aren't they? I used to stay up all night watching them sometimes. From my home the view was perfect. I was so high up, I used to imagine that all it would take would be for me to reach up so I could take one." He chuckled, embarassed. "It's silly, I know."
Carpet perked up and hovered around them, doing loops in the air. He pointed at the roof of the palace.
"When I was very little, my mother would tell me stories about them. From the balcony I thought it was a wonderful treasure in the sky, greater than even my Father's."
She looked up at the stars too, blinking when Carpet flew around them.
"Carpet?"
Carpet flew beside Aladdin and then up towards the roof, before zipping back down again. "Ohhhh..." Aladdin breathed catching on. He looked at Jasmine with a smirk. "We can get even closer to those stars if you want."
Jasmine understood now too. Her smile grew. "Let's go."
Carpet set itself out before them and Aladdin climbed on. At the same moment, his rper debated whether or not she should make him sing 'A Whole New World.' After Jasmine had got on, Carpet shot off into the night sky.
Abu had just woken up from a nap and came out into the garden. He chittered happily when he saw Aladdin and Jasmine and ran over to greet them when they took off on Carpet. He stood beside Rajah, his jaw hanging open. Abu couldn't believe they'd left him behind!
"Hey!" he chattered angrily and looked at Rajah with his paws on his hips.
Rajah watched them go before looking down at Abu. He gave an understanding nod.
Jasmine felt a thrill in her stomach as they climbed higher, cool air whipping around them. She laughed.
Far away, the constellations continued to move, but eventually a green circle between the star pattern glowed brightly.
Aladdin's laughter mixed with hers; Jasmine was even more fun to be around when she was in good spirits. Shifting around so that he was facing her, Aladdin took one of her hands in his own. A pair of birds flew past them and one of them looked very surprised to see two humans in the air.
When the constellation began to shift again, Aladdin pointed at it with his free hand.
"Jasmine look at that!"
She'd looked into his eyes when he took her hands, her eyes bright. She followed his gaze to the stars. "... What are they?"
More stars lit up, in a patter within the constellation and the green circle. It then descended from the sky, gradually lowering itself to a secluded, uninhabited part of the land (although it could easily be seen by Jasmine and Aladdin).
"Woah," Aladdin breathed as more stars brightened and when the green light descended he leant back.
Aladdin looked at Jasmine, the eager adventurer in him popping up. "Do you want to take a look?"

The lights, whatever they were, gradually dimmed, until they were unlit completely.

Without waiting for instructions, Carpet took off in the direction of the green light.
Aladdin scanned the ground below, but could not find anything that reflected the same bright light he'd seen in the sky.
"Where'd it go? Do you think it was a falling star? Or maybe another Genie?"
