A lone woman was lithely sprinting through the forest, weaving between the many trees with an ease that made it look as if she'd been doing this for years; which was probably because she had. Pocahontas smiled, taking a deep fresh of the fresh, jungle air as she perched on a boulder and surveyed her surroundings.
“The jungle is so wild,” she murmured, trying to decide which direction would be the best to go in, “so untamed…” she grinned, before leaping off the rock and resuming her dash, “…just the way I love it.” Ahead of her was a slight drop, which led straight down to a clean looking lake. The Native American’s eyes practically lit up as they fell upon this, and if possible her pace increased for the final few steps before she leapt off into the water. Pocahontas flipped over once, however still landed in the waves gracefully and swam beneath the surface, only emerging above the waves again when she reached the opposite bank.
“Wait a moment…” whispered Poca, freezing on the spot and closing her eyes as she concentrated on listening, “there’s someone else here.” Her eyes snapped open suddenly as she whirled around to face the patch of bushes she’d heard sound coming from.

Smoke emitted from behind the bushes. One probably would have initially assumed that there was a fire, but it actually turned out to be smoke from the cigar inside a large cat's mouth.
The cat was indeed large, both vertically and horizontally. He was overweight but exceedingly tall, even taller than Pocahontas. He was attired in a standard jungle exploration outfit sans a hat, and he had a thick, odorous cigar in his mouth.
He didn't notice the Native American at first. Instead his eyes were focused on the sky. "Huh!" he scoffed. "'Follow th' moon.' Yeah, right!" He scoffed again, condescendingly speaking of a direction he obtained from someone, somewhere.

Pocahontas examined the strange creature with interest. His features were vaguely feline, however he was far larger then any cat that the Native American had ever seen before, and was both walking and talking just like a human.
“It’s the sun you should follow,” she corrected sagaciously, quickly emerging fully from the lake, “the moon’s spirit alone can not guide you.” She was uncomfortably aware of the water splattering down from her hair onto the ground, however at that moment had no way to change that. Poca wrinkled her nose, smelling for the first time the strange, noxious stick that burnt in the cat’s hands. Her people had tobacco, that wasn’t strange to her, however it smelt far fouler then any that had hit her nose before.
“Wingapo,” she added, waving one hand in a graceful arc in the traditional greeting of her people, “I must admit I have never seen one like you before.”

The large, anthropomorphic cat looked down to look at the person who addressed him. Almost immediately a smile tugged the cat's face. "Saaaay," he grinned. "Hello there, gorgeous!" He casually dropped his cigar and stepped on it. A twist of his foot extinguished the lit tobacco.
Continuing to grin, he suavely rubbed a gloved palm on the top of his head, combing back any possible hair that stood up messily. His eyelids, covering most of his large and bright eyes at the time, were purple. The fact that this woman was wet didn't disturb him. In fact, it probably intrigued him. "And what's your name?" he asked playfully, treating the young woman as if she were an object rather than a living, breathing creature with sensitive feelings.

Pocahontas took an involuntary step back as she noticed the way the cat was staring at her. There was something in his expression that she didn’t like, in fact, it would be more accurate to say that there was nothing in it that she liked. She’d seen a very similar expression on several of the males in the tribe when they thought she wasn’t looking, and it never failed to make her feel uncomfortable.
“Pocahontas,” she replied uncertainly. The cat’s voice was practically dripping with slime, so much so that if Poca half wished to fling herself back into the lake to clean it off.
“What is your name?” she didn’t particularly wish to engage him in conversation, however generally felt it was better to be courteous. Besides, it wasn’t like he could ever outrun her in this terrain if he did try anything untoward.

Pete continued acting 'flirty,' much to the chagrin of the Native American. "I'm Pete," he replied as he stepped closer. The closer he got, the more it was noticeable that his intimidating head loomed above Pocahontas'. He was quite tall and quite broad.
"But you can call me Honey." With his eyes staring right into Pocahontas' hues, he puckered his lips and kissed the air with a loud smack, obnoxiously encouraging a romantic relationship.

Pocahontas took another involuntary step back as Pete advanced, so that the water was now up around her knees once again. She’d often noticed that the cats of the forest were reluctant to enter the water, most likely because the water spirits were not fond of them, so was hoping that the spirits would deter Pete from pursuing her into the lake.
“Spirits protect me,” she muttered as the feline made his intentions clear. She took a deep breath, before once again speaking loud enough for the man to hear.
“Honey?” she asked in confusion, “you come from bees?”

Pete stopped just before the water, and after the question regarding bees he threw his head back and placed his large hands on his even larger belly, laughing uproariously. "T'oh-ho-ho! That's good!" He looked back to Pocahontas and shrugged. "Nah, I came 'cause I hear there's treasure nearby. Know anythin' 'bout it?" Fortunately for Pocahontas, Pete continued sounding full of lust but over something different from her.

“Treasure?” repeated Pocahontas slowly, relieved that the cat’s attention seemed to have at least temporarily been shifted away from her. Treasure wasn’t a familiar word to her; however upon thinking about it she became confident that she’d heard several members of the Virginia Company using the word.
“Oh, you mean ‘gold’?” she asked carefully, not wanting to mislead the stranger despite his vile exterior, “I’m afraid there’s no gold here.”

Pete's reaction shifted sharply and swiftly. Just a minute, he was cocky as ever and lustful. But after Pocahontas had told him about there not being any gold nearby, his smug face changed to the face of bewilderment. His flexible face drooped and the black pupils in his eyes constricted humorously.
"... Wut?" he asked very lowly. He clearly didn't wish to believe her, but deep inside he feared that she was correct. "Yer kiddin'!" he protested. He forced a chuckle and feigned certainty. "... Right?" Despite trying to force his face to appear confident, his eyes still expressed doubt.
