Even at a time like this, Archimedes couldn't help but curse Merlin's dreadfully-forgetful mind... how, especially, could he forget that he held a legendary oracular throne in his own cottage?!
Archimedes opened his beak wide, looking very much like he was prepared to verbally deride his air-headed partner once again... but all that came out was a deep sigh, reducing the owl's scowl to a somber frown. After coming this close to losing his one and only friend in the world - said friend having cared for him practically since he was just an owlet - Archimedes just didn't have it in him to scold Merlin, at the moment. He only glanced up at Merlin momentarily, brows gently furrowed, to signify his disappointment, but this look quickly vanished.
The creaking of the door and the familiar-sounding footsteps of dusty leather boots suddenly caught the bird's attention; he knew who had just entered the cottage, and it was somebody he hoped would not have to be involved in any of this.
"A-Arthur..." Archimedes unconsciously muttered (he was beyond calling the boy by his derogatory nickname, by now), seeing the blonde youth approach Merlin and quickly reading the anxiety on the boy's face, silently sympathizing with his grief. He had observed Merlin's interactions with Arthur ever since the boy literally dropped into their lives, and well understood the growing bond between the two; he stayed quiet, giving them a moment.

Merlin didn't notice Archimedes' reaction, because the entrance of Arthur caught his attention. The injured wizard looked to his pupil; the eyes behind his spectacles expressed genuine surprise. He had not expected to see the boy, and certainly not at a time like this.
"Wart," Merlin asked with his scratchy voice, "what brought you here?" He looked to Alice, expecting her to justify Arthur's presence. "Were the two of you together, lass?" He stroked his beard.

Alice had already answered Merlin's question; the way she reacted to Arthur's presence indicated that she was just as surprised to see Arthur as anyone else. She turned and watch Arthur approach, and she looked back to Merlin as she was addressed.
"No, Merlin," she politely answered. "I had not seen him today. Well, not earlier today." She returned her focus to Arthur with a look of concern. "Arthur," she said, "Merlin was attacked by a savage wizard." She clasped her hands together in worry. Although Merlin had survived, she was still fearful.
Dinah had remained close to Archimedes the whole time. She hadn't bothered the owl, and remained politely quiet. She watched and listened to the conversations around her. It was all she could really do; she could have rested her head on her paws and rest, but that would have been impolite in this situation.

*Arthur blinks, frowning. He couldn't think of any other wizards, save for Madam Mim...but despite her being evil, even that old crone wasn't capable of harming him -this- much. *
B-but...why would another wizard do that? You don't mean harm to anyone. Merlin...? I don't understand.

Alice took this opportunity to explain to the boy everything that had been explained to her just moments prior to Arthur's arrival. She stopped twice during her explanation to look to Merlin as if to ask if she was correct. Merlin had nodded both times, and Alice finished recapitulating for Arthur.
"But if someone would kill just for a throne," Alice concluded, "then... well..." She didn't finish her sentence, and she didn't need to; it was obvious that whatever Mozenrath was up to was not good at all.
Alice tried to change the subject by smiling warmly to the bedridden wizard. "But thank goodness you are alive and well, Merlin." She closed her eyes and pressed her right hand against her face. This was a seriously traumatic experience.

Merlin was humbled by Alice's compassion. He was humbled by all of his friends. But his brief smile faded, and he sighed while shaking his head.
"I survived, but I should not have failed." As if he expected to be considerably healed at that moment, he started to rise up, but he quickly grunted and collapsed back on his bed. "Confound it!" he exclaimed with furrowed eyebrows and narrow eyes.
"I can't stay like this forever!" he exclaimed, mostly to himself. "I have to retrieve that throne!" His fingers clutched his blanket and he scowled.

"Well, there's certainly no way you'll be going about chasing dark sorcerors in this state!" After remaining silent - or, at the very least, quiet - for some time, Archimedes suddenly spoke up in his familiar, scolding tone. He fluttered off of the floor to perch on the side of Merlin's bed, staring up at him with those intense owl eyes of his. However, Merlin, knowing Archimedes and practically able to read the bird's mind at times, could most likely recognize the emotions behind that upset stare of his: concern.
"We at least need to try and get you back in shape before you do anything, at all." The nagging owl stated the obvious, but wanted to make this point as clear as possible to the stubborn old wizard.

*Arthur thought, rubbing the back of his neck...there must be a way to get the throne back. Kay? Nah...to him, it'd be like taking orders from a servant. And Sir Ector, aside from the fact he didn't care much for Merlin, would probably not believe him, anyway. And he couldn't do it on his own; He was just one little boy! There had to be SOMEONE who would help.
Well, if Merlin can't...then maybe I can find someone who can help out. There's gotta be a way!

Merlin hated to admit it, but Archimedes was right. Merlin had no choice but to rest until he regained his strength, however long it would take. With furrowed brows, he nodded to the wise owl while sighing heavily, and eased himself back on his pillow, trying his best to relax but still keep up with the conversation. When Arthur volunteered to seek assistance, the old wizard looked him in the eyes.
"Thank you, boy, but I have an idea where he's going." The wounded Merlin rested on his bed, but he looked to Archimedes. "We shall leave as soon as I recover, Archimedes. When I'm as good as ever." He exhaled, closed his eyes, and relaxed his muscles. "Then we'll see just who has the last laugh then!"
