The woods were rather still, the normal sounds of the forest being cut off suddenly as a brown gauntlet appeared out of no-where. With a wave, the air seemed to tear and Mozenrath opened the cut like a curtain. He and Xerxes stepped through it, the wizard making a face.
"It's so...cheery." he muttered, waving a hand at the scenery before beginning to walk through the forest. "Now- where is this mage. Ha, imagine- such power and using it for good."
"Good bad, very bad."
The wizard gave a small sigh as he burned a few bushes out of his way. Where was that hut...

The wizard whom Mozenrath searched for was in his cottage, which many could eventually find if they were persistent in Sherwood Forest.
Merlin was seated on his favorite armchair, at the table, where he worked on building a model steamboat. He was fascinated with how this riverboat functioned, and so his desire to create a miniature model of his own wouldn't be satisfied until he fulfilled it.
He was so busy with tinkering with the model boat that he hardly said a word to Archimedes that day.

Mozzy paused and grinned, he could feel that sickeningly good energy nearby. So changing direction he headed through several clearings before arriving at the little hut.
"Well- I know we didn't call but I do hope someone's home."
He grinned darkly and knocked on the door. On the second knock his gauntlet lit up with power and he knocked the door off it's hinges. He gave a fake gasp.
"Oh dear- I think I gave that a little to much...oh what's the word?"
"Umph! umph! heheh"
"Ah yes. Thank you Xerxes. Is anyone home?"

Archimedes, taking a little daytime snooze as Merlin tinkered with his models, leapt about a foot in the air at the sudden noise of the door being knocked off its hinges, looking like a feathery balloon as his feathers puffed right out in surprise.
"Hoo-HOO! Wha-wha-what now?!"
Barely collecting himself as he landed on his perch, he looked around hastily for the cause of the noise, and caught the two... "visitors", standing at the door of the cottage. Immediately, a very displeased scowl grew on his beak, his bushy eyebrows furrowed.
"Wha-what in blazes...?! Do you mind?!" he hooted, very annoyed. Hopefully Merlin would teach these... ruffians, a thing or two about barging into peoples' houses and knocking their doors right off.

Merlin, more annoyed than startled, looked up from his model building and narrowed his eyes at the unwelcome visitor.
"There is--there was a door, you know. It is good manners to knock."
He scoffed and looked down to his model once more, unaware of the stranger's power... or perhaps simply ignoring?

The Dark wizard didn't seem phased by the talking owl- he had a flying eel with him after all. He sauntered in, not bothering to replace the door, glancing around.
"Hmm...interesting- such a powerful man living in such a hovel. It's almost sad." he waved his hand, "but other then that- I'm here to pick something up Old Man."

"And what is that, boy?" Merlin asked, still focusing most of his attention on his model.
Although he was good, he was not above insulting others if they deserved it. "Come, come, lad," he said condescendingly.

Archimedes, by now, had an intense glare locked on to the strange young man and his rather disgusting familiar.
The aloof old owl rarely trusted new visitors, but these two made him especially suspicious... yet, Archimedes felt he had to restrain his urge to rant and rave at them. He got the feeling that this man was very powerful, indeed... He didn't dare show it, but he was actually a little nervous.
He shifted his gaze a few times between Mozenrath and Merlin, waiting for his companion to, well... do something about this intruder. His feathers remained ruffled in anger, and his brows furrowed in suspicion.

"Oh I've decided to redecorate my palace." he started, glancing about the room to see if he saw anything that might give him a clue to where the throne was.
Xerxes sniggered and floated up towards the owl, "New rooms!"
"And I'm trying to find a nice center piece for my throne room." he watched Merlin and rolled his eyes, "Oh forget it." he collected a ball of magic in his gauntlet, "I'm looking for the Throne of Solomon."

Merlin sat down his model, looked at the intruder with a dead serious expression, and stood proud and brave.
"And why do you suppose you will find it here? I'm an old man in an old cottage in the woods. You won't find anything here."
Secretly, Merlin was on his guard, and he was prepared to fight back, especially if it would keep Archimedes out of harm's way. Though they often argued and commenced battles of wits, Merlin cared deeply for the owl.

Immediately, Archimedes' attention was switched from Mozenrath to Xerxes, who floated a little too close to the owl for his liking. He hopped back an inch on his perch, making a flustered little hoot and puffing his feathers out even more, his big yellow eyes staring angrily at the eel.

Mozenrath looked at Merlin with mock surprise, "Oh? I'm so sorry- I wasn't aware. My mistake." He said, starting to make his way to the door.
Half-way there, he turned suddenly, aiming a shot of electric blue magic energy straight for the elderly wizard.

POOF! In a flash, Merlin had vanished entirely, barely evading the attack.
Merlin was gone, but magical sparkles and smoke still lingered for a few seconds after his disappearance.
So, you've decided on how to act, Merlin's voice echoed throughout the cottage.

Mozenrath laughed coldly, "Ha so I was right. Wizards- so predictable."
His eyes moved from side to side before he ran his hand through the vanishing sparkles. Tapping his chin he glanced around.
"Now, tell me where the chair is old man." He grated out again, his 'cheery' facade begin to crumble with impatience. He didn't have time to be beating around- there were still two other aspects to find.

Manners! Merlin's voice said to the left. Then it said to the right, You should know to say please.
It was incredibly difficult to ascertain where, if stationary, Merlin was.

Archimedes could only watch, now. He was not terribly worried; scatter-brained Merlin may be, but when faced with danger, he was very quick on the draw, and sharp as a nail when it came to magic. Still, this strange boy... he seemed like the type who was not to be underestimated.
He silently observed the scene from his perch, still glaring suspiciously at Mozenrath and his piscine familiar.

Xerxes gave a high giggle, wrapping his tail around Archimedes perch, "Wait an see- Mozenrath get Merlin."
Mozenrath clenched his hand- this was getting annoying very quickly; and he hated being annoyed. With an exaggerated sigh, the young wizard placed his hand to his forehead for a moment.
"I can't find you- that doesn't seem fair; don't you think Xerxes?"
"Cheater! Cheater!"
"I agree- let's even the playing field." He waved his hand around his head, bringing in a cloud of pitch black sand, it floated to floor and began to bubble and spread, anything it passed under began to sink into.
"I don't have to worry- this is my; well let's say I've the home team advantage now." The black ooze-like sand began to slowly spread, showing Mozenrath where the wizard was not.

Erm, what are you looking for? Merlin's voiced asked. He didn't sound fearful so much as confused.
Light shuffling was heard here and there, indicating that the wizard was avoiding the black sand. Hurry up, lad!

Mozenrath gave an annoyed growl, resting his hand against his forehead.
"I said I was looking for the Throne of Solomon! The wisest king of the seven deserts."
He glanced around, looking at the odd mish-mash of chairs before clenching his hands at his sides and looking in the general direction of Merlin.
"I traced it to a 'stone cottage in an ancient wood- the knowledge of Britannia's future held within. Where are you hiding it old man?"

Archimedes just couldn't sit back and observe, any longer, letting this stubborn young wizard push Merlin into saying something that he shouldn't say. It was clear that the boy wanted it for less-than-honorable reasons, and something had to be done... Things were getting a bit too out of wing for Archimedes' liking.
"There is no such throne here!" he hooted out, ruffling his feathers. "Just what makes you think it's in this cottage, hm?" Archimedes' big yellow discs of eyes ardently glared down at Mozenrath.

"Mozenrath never wrong! It here!"
Mozenrath turned his sharp eyed gaze towards the owl, clasping his hands together in a fake apology.
"I'm sorry. Did I spoil your afternoon?" He sneered again, energy glowing from his gaunlet, "Good. That throne is here, I know it ever if your master is playing ignorance!"
He pointed at the owl with the magic filled glove, "Maybe you know where it is pin-feathers." Why did powerful wizard have to have smart mouthed birds? Was it some sort of trend he missed?

"Leave him alone," a floating beard, moustache, glasses and hat said from behind Mozenrath. The rest of Merlin was still transparent. His voice was very serious and scratchy.
"He is of no concern to you."
Merlin would later be thankful that Alice and Arthur had today off; he would've hated to see them caught up in this and endangered.

"Heroes. So predictable." He did leave the bird alone, turning to face the floating accessories. "But it helps when one is in a hurry."
The wizard narrowed his eyes, "Where is the throne, I'm getting tired of asking!"

Mozenrath might have been surprised by the owl's apparent lack of fear; when he pointed his magic-filled glove at Archimedes and threatened him, the bird just continued to glare at him belligerently. Becoming increasingly annoyed with Mozenrath, he struggled to restrain any comebacks - Archimedes was short-tempered, but not foolish enough to continue provoking a powerful and dangerous mage - and settled on just puffing out his feathers to display his anger.
He continued to intensely watch Merlin and Mozenrath face-off, feeling certain that Merlin knew what to do... yet, at the same time, apprehensive of what else Mozenrath had up his sleeves.

(OOC: I am so very sorry, gang! I didn't mean to make you wait!)
The beard scowled. "I have no idea what you're talking about, boy! Absolutely n--oh." Merlin's attitude changed on a dime, from seething anger to sudden realization. With that 'oh,' he clearly remembered something.
"Of course," he muttered. He fully materialized back into normal form. "I should have known..." He stroked his beard and looked to his favorite armchair.

Archimedes' belligerent expression became one of mild surprise... and confusion. He looked over at the chair - the one Merlin would always sit in when resting, tired, or in a bad mood - and occasionally switched gazes between the half-visible Merlin and the armchair.
"What, what?" the confused owl stammered, demanding answers as to just what was going on, and what this was all about. Merlin's chair... could it be what this boy was looking for?

Mozenrath followed Merlin's gaze once the wizard became visible again. A wide, dark grin crept across his features as his clapped his hands together.
"Look he remembers." he saccharine voice turned sour as he glared at the older mage, "Where is it?" his gaze held on the chair- it couldn't be THAT simple...could it?

"It's under your nose, lad," Merlin said as he pointed nonchalantly to his armchair. "But you wouldn't part an old man from his favorite chair, would you? After all, it is very comfortable." He chuckled lightly. The surprised look of Mozenrath's face was simply too funny.
Even with slight humor, though, Merlin was regretful; he inadvertently gave the evil sorcerer what he desired. He looked to Archimedes with a hint of somberness. "I had completely forgotten, Archimedes."

"Y-you mean," Archimedes stuttered, trying to make sense of all of this. "Your chair is... what this boy is looking for?"
The owl continuously glanced over at said chair, still not quite ready to believe that this - the chair Merlin had called his own and sat in for ages - was the so-called "Throne of Solomon". Just why was Merlin willing to give it up so easily?
"Bu-but, Merlin, you..." Archimedes looked down to Merlin, flapping down from his perch and settling himself on his shoulder. "You're going to just give it to him? Just like that? What if he... what if the chair..." he rambled on, his mind still in a haze. If this powerful sorcerer was so intent on obtaining this chair... it had to have some secret behind it, that Merlin had never told him of.

Mozenrath rolled his eyes, "Senile old fool..." he muttered before powering his glove up again. The sand that had stopped spreading around the room now swirled together, lifting straight up into the air.
"I'll be taking your 'old chair' now Merlin. I'll send a replacement." he gestured his hand towards the chair, the pillar of swirling sand following the motion exactly and heading straight for the throne.
"Maybe. *smirk*"
