“If it’s all right with you, Briar Rose, I think I’d rather walk.” The frog paused, reconsidering what he had just said. “Er- hop.” A few of the animals who had continued to hang around after the maiden’s last song chattered and tweeted with laughter at his comment.
As they began their journey back, Robin decided to ask the girl about herself. They had been talking about him for far too long as far as he was concerned. “So do you plan on remaining in the forest forever, Briar Rose?” He smiled up at her. "That is after we go to that audition of course."

The beautiful maiden smiled softly when Robin answered, and successfully avoided giggling at the hopping comment (she wouldn't have felt decent if she did).
"Of course, Sir Robin," she answered with a nod. From that point on, she would keep close by his side, but since she was exceedingly taller than he, she always made sure to not walk briskly, or in any pace where he couldn't keep up.
As Robin asked for more details about herself, she sporadically looked down to him as they walked. She smiled and giggled at the second audition reference.
"N-no," she responded through her sincere smile. "I have never left this forest, but... but I would love to. Someday." As she expressed her desire, her voice shifted, as if she was unsure of herself. It was the result of a heavily sheltered life. She gripped her elbows as she walked.
"I'm sorry, but where were you born?" she asked, glancing down at the frog. She felt as though she should talk more about Robin than herself.

<Beautiful avatar, Joe!>
Robin could tell she was uneasy with the conversation and he decided not to continue to stress the fact that the world was a large, but wonderful place to live in. Maybe they would go to that audition, maybe they wouldn’t; only time would tell. At least in the present moment, he was enjoying a very lovely walk (hop) through a very lovely forest with a very lovely girl. Secretly Robin wished that Briar Rose was a princess because even the simple action of glancing up at her made him prone to blushing- and green frogs were not meant to turn red!
The little frog hopped along in silence after she posed her question, thinking hard about its answer. Where was he from? The location seemed to be concealed behind a cloud of uncertainty and the royal amphibian answered as calmly and confidently as he could, “Oh, somewhere far away from here. As princes often do. I live- well lived- in a castle until that terrible witch put a spell on me.” An involuntary shiver raced up his spine. “But I’d rather not talk about her anymore.”

(OOC: Tell that to Jacob! It was he who made it, and very kindly gave it to me. Same goes for Alice's current banner. Thanks again, Jacob!)
Briar Rose's eyes widened, and she gasped. She promptly stopped in her tracks and looked down to the frog, her eyes locking into direct contact with Robin's. She shook her head in a short yet rapid succession. Her fingers bent, almost cupping, and she brought them up from her elbows, but kept them below her chin. Her eyebrows tugged, and her beautifully red lips parted. Her emotion was clearly visible: Briar Rose was ashamed of herself.
"I'm sorry, Sir Robin!" she softly explained. Her tone was deeply apologetic. "I didn't mean to remind you of... her!" After she mentioned her, Briar Rose winced and looked away with great shame. She couldn't bare to continue looking at the frog. After all, she just brought up Robin's troubled past again! Stupid girl! Haven't your aunts taught you better? Even if it was just an accident, how dare you treat the prince's dire situation with levity!
She involuntarily straightened her left arm and placed it against her left side, as her right hand grasped her left elbow. She turned her face again to look at the frog. Her eyes expressed better than words how sorry she was. "I'm sorry if I offended you," she apologized.
Briar Rose was unquestionably a fragile, sensitive creature.

“Oh, please don’t feel so badly, Briar Rose! It’s really not that big of an issue, but why should we discuss something so unpleasant when I’m with such wonderful company?” Robin had spoken in a panicked tone, upset with himself for being unable to remember where he was from and ashamed for using that dreadful witch as an excuse to evade her question. It was true an ill feeling came over him whenever that purple monster popped into his mind, but deep down he had known that he did use her to ignore Briar Rose’s question and that was not very fair to the girl at all.
The tables had turned and now he found that he was having trouble staring at the blond beauty; Robin tried to mask his guilt by glancing away but he still felt that she could see straight through him. Not wanting to distress the young lady even further, Robin returned his gaze to her while wearing what he hoped was a reassuring smile- as far as frog smiles went.
“Briar Rose, I really don’t mean to be any trouble and have you worry about me so from now on I think we should only discuss things that make us happy! Like friends and family, and swamps!” Swamps? Where had that come from? He couldn’t recall enjoying swamps as Prince. Of course, he couldn’t recall being a prince either. At least his memories of his time as a human one were fading; they were more dreamlike than anything. Perhaps he had been a frog for far longer than he had originally thought. Returning to the current conversation, the Frog Prince added sheepishly, “Not to mention your singing. Your singing can make anyone happy, Briar Rose. Why, I bet you could even chase away a cloudy day!”

Briar Rose quickly changed her attitude, which was good for the Frog Prince. She worked up a smile to Robin even before he complimented her. She didn't know exactly what a swamp was, but to her it sounded becoming such a fantastical, amazing prince. When Robin complimented her as well as her singing, she blushed and shyly looked aside, as her smile warmed in a manner that revealed her white teeth. But she quickly looked back down to the frog. "Thank you!" she replied. "I would love to sing for you, whenever you want me to, Sir Robin."
A noise from a distance caught Briar Rose's attention. "Rose!" a husky woman's voice called. "It's growing late! Come back, wherever you are!"
Rose gasped softly and looked toward the direction where the voice came from. She instantly recognized it, though, and she smiled. "That was Aunt Flora," she said down to Robin. She looked to him again. "We're almost to my home. Let me take you there, Sir Robin!"
After she holding a sweet, gentle smile for a moment longer, she looked ahead and led Robin to her home, the cottage in the glen.
