History: Scrooge is the last male heir to Clan McDuck of Glasgow, Scotland. He has two sisters, Hortense (his baby sister) and Matilda. Compared to how lavishly he currently lives, Scrooge and his family were relatively poor. At the age of ten, Scrooge got a job as a shoeshine boy to help support his family. One day he shined the shoes of a conman, who paid him with an American dime. Initially infuriated by this trick, Scrooge decided to keep the coin. This dime becomes known as his "Number One Dime". According to Magica DeSpell, it has become charged with the symbolic energies of good fortune and wealth.
As a young man, he came to the Canadian Klondike in order to participate in the Gold Rush there and met the love of his life, saloon dancer and singer "Glittering Goldie" 'O Gilt. It was also here that he struck it rich, discovering a large rock which turned out to be solid gold. Scrooge left the Klondike behind, as well Goldie when he believes she has cheated him (though he later learned that a rival of his was the true thief and not Goldie). It was that chunk of gold that helped him build his fortune. He settled down in Duckburg, and built his Money Bin there.
When Donald Duck, the original caretaker of his sister Della's sons Huey, Dewy, and Louie decides to join the Navy, Scrooge then adopts his three great-nephews. He hires a nanny, Miss Beakely, to help watch over them, and she brings her granddaughter Webigail to stay at McDuck Manor.
Scrooge, his friends, and his family have some amazing adventures in Duckberg as well as around the globe. Spending time with them also has the side-effect of polishing out Scrooge's rough edges.
