Far to the East of the Sahara desert, lies a land covered in perpetual night. A cloudless sky dotted with stars that shine the only light into the small towns that litter the land. A large castle rose out of the black sand, guarded by groups of un-dead warriors.
A single light in the upper most tower showed that whoever lived in this dreary palace, was still awake. Piles of books littered the room, candle wax built up on the long burning holders.
"Blast it!" a large thud echoed in the room, the occupant slamming his gloved hand against the table. "I've looked in ever single tome- every single page and scroll in my collections! And I haven't found a single mention of where that thing is now."
Mozenrath gave a heavy sigh, closing the book he'd been reading and tossing it on a pile. He clenched his fists in anger before raising his gaunlet and blasting a rather decent sized hole in the wall.
"Ahaha, muuuch better...Xerxes!!!" he shouted, folding his arms as he waited for the eel to emerge.
Xerxes yelped awake, erking as the book he'd been sleeping on shifted and made a taller pile fall upon him. With a few grunts he wriggled free and flew towards Mozenrath.
"Yes Mozenrath?" he panted, eyeing the hole in the wall with worry. Master was in a mood.
"Ah there you are my faithful servent." He grabbed the eels tail and pulled him down to eye level, "Are these all the books in the palace?"
Xerxes gulped and nodded, "no more! no more!"
Mozenrath grabbed the lackey's throat before sighing and letting the eel drop to the floor. "Well that makes thing a little more difficult. I'll have to actually put effort into things." he gave a small scoff. "And I was hoping for a relaxing evening."
He tapped his cheek in thought, glancing out the window, "If I were a throne...where would I be?"
Xerxes flew to the window, giggling darkly as he point towards a pair of distant spires. "Castle! Castle! Thrones in castles!"
Mozenrath raised his eyebrow, walking out onto the balcony. He scratched his chin as he looked at the distant castle, "Your right Xerxes. I doubt the throne is there but maybe how to find it!" He laughed deeply, walking back into the sanctity of the tower room. His gloved hand clenched and the gauntlet lit up with power.
"You know Xerxes- it rude to just...drop in, uninvited."
"Very rude heheheh"
"Oh well." He grinned darkly and slashed the air, a blue and black portal opening up where he had slashed. He laughed once more as he walked through the portal before it blinked out of existence.
