She was trained in the ways of the Huntsclan, believing that her family died right after she was born and brainwashed into believe that all magical creatures were evil.
Then on Rose's first day of middle school, she bumped into a guy called Jake Long. The two became close, but Rose didn't know that Jake was a dragon; Jake didn't know she was Huntsgirl either. Jake found out that Rose was Huntsgirl on the episode 'Ski Trip', he found her Ski Pass and then later identified that it was her with the birthmark on her right palm.
Rose didn't find out about Jake, till the episode 'The Hunted' in which as Rose was about to slay Jake, he revealed his true self to her. Rose let him go, but shortly after transfered schools.
Rose was taken to a Huntsclan academy, for failing in the field, were she continued training. Jake found her though, as he was undercover as a Huntsclan student, along with Spud. Rose was forced to battle Jake after the Huntsmaster found out he was an imposter and a dragon. She pretended to 'slay' him, and helped him get back home. Rose then was transfered back to New York and to Jake's school.
Rose finds out that her parents are alive and well in Dreamscape, when she enters her subconcious and sees her birth and the Huntsmaster taking her away.
Rose nearly ends up slaying Jake all over again in the Love Cruise, when he hits her with Cupid's arrow, causing her to hate him. She is upset at the end and tells him that they have to keep their relationship proffesional.
Soon, Homecoming arrives. Rose is nominated for Homecoming, along with Jake. The Huntman finds out about her communicating with a dragon and threatens her family, unless she does what he says. Rose betrays Jake and breaks into his Gramps shop, and hands the Huntsmaster the aztec skulls, which a person can make an irreversible wish upon. Rose is forced to fight Jake, or else she would never see her family. The Huntsman wishes for the destruction of all magical creatures, but is stopped by Rose who wishes for the destruction of all Huntsclan. As she is about to be destroyed, Jake wishes that she was never taken by the Huntsclan. Rose finally gets the family that she's always wanted, but sadly doesn't remember Jake, or anything that they went through together. She moves with her family away from America and to Hong Kong.
{This is the history, but up to now, Rose doesn't have any idea that Jake is the American Dragon, or that her parents are not dead, they are alive and well.}
