Under normal circumstances, there could have been a chance that Alice would have giggled at such an embarrassing situation. Fortuantely for Edith, today wasn't that day. Alice had forgotten about the obnoxiously rude flowers, and she immediately felt guilty. Now that Edith was in that awful situation, Alice came to her older sister's rescue. Her eyes sharp and narrowed, the youngest sister lowered herself to the ground and reached for the offending flower. To a flower's perspective, Alice's large, shadow-casting hand was like a gigantic monster.
"Let her alone!" Alice loudly demanded, continuing to reach for the flower antagonizing Edith. Hopefully this would have scared the rude flora.

The Marguerite screamed in terror at the sight of the gigantic Alice and immediately dropped the hapless Edith, who landed on the ground with her dress covering her torso and her pantalettes still completely exposed.
"Eek!" the Marguerite screeched. "It's that yellow-topped weed again!"
"And she's even bigger than she was the last time we saw her!" added one of the violets.
Edith straightened herself up and used the opportunity to make her escape.

Alice stopped reaching after Edith was released. The younger sister regretted not being more careful with her demand, and felt she should have requested for Edith to be released safely, not just dropped. At any rate, her older sister was now free, and raced after the mushroom. However, Alice had lost track of Edith after scolding the flowers.
"Please be more civilized in the days yet to come," Alice told the rose, and by extension all of the sentient flowers. She turned her attention away from the plants and shifted her weight in order to look at the mushroom. She did not move from her spot, fearing that she could accidentally crush her sister should she take a step, let alone crawl.

At last, Edith reached the mushroom and climbed onto it. She broke off a piece of the gigantic fungus, and, keeping in mind the amount she needed to consume in order to return to her original size, licked the mushroom piece. Almost instantly, Edith grew back to her original size. She was extremely fortunate this time, as she could have made the mistake of consuming a piece from the opposite side of the mushroom and shrunk to an even smaller size. The fact that she had chosen a piece from the correct side was merely luck.
But now that she was back to her old self again, Edith immediately turned her attention to the flowers who had humiliated her. She was not going to let them get away with what they did.
She made her way to the flower bed and was ready to stomp on the Marguerite.

Alice stood and smiled in relief when she saw Edith grow back to normal, in the blink of an eye. She recognized her older sister's sour face, and knew that she would desire nothing more than to destroy the flowers that humiliated her.
Alice felt this same desire; when she was harassed by the flowers not long ago, she swore them that if she were her right size she would pick them. But now it seemed unnecessarily cruel... after all, what if it was just the flowers' way of socializing? They were rude, to be sure, but Alice decided to try and steer her sister's mind away from killing a flower.
She attempted this by rushing to her sister (watching her step to avoid stepping on anything all the while) and tightly embracing Edith as they made contact, attempting to stop her in her tracks. "Oh, Edith!" Alice happily exclaimed as she pressed herself against her restored sibling. "Thank goodness you're normal again! It's much better, isn't it?" She looked up to her face.

Just as Alice had hoped, Edith stopped what she was doing and calmed down. Was it really necessary for her to punish the flowers for embarrassing her?
"Please forgive my fellow flora," the Rose said gently. "They often have a tendency to overreact towards outsiders."
Edith thought about it for a moment. The only individuals who saw her pantalettes were her younger sister and the flowers, the latter of which did not seem to know what pantalettes were. Therefore, there really was no reason for her to feel all that embarrassed. Finally, she decided it would be best to leave it at that. She kept the mushroom piece in case they needed it for later.
"Come, Alice," said Edith. "Let's find a way out of this place."

Alice initially crossed the looking-glass just to routinely check on Wonderland, to make sure it was safe. Now that Edith had seen the illogical realm for herself, and expressed a desire to leave, Alice nodded in agreement.
"To leave," Alice said while standing in front of Edith and clasping her hands together, "we must find a looking-glass. There should be one nearby." She shifted her weight so she could casually look behind her older sibling, so to see a path leading into a thick forest. "Through there, in fact. That is where I found one when I last visited here." She looked back up to Edith; she would make the first move when the older sister was ready.

"I'm more than ready to leave this dreadful place," said Edith, still somewhat shaken from her previous experience.

The younger sister smiled and turned ahead, leading the walk into the woods. "Well, then follow me."
Once inside the forest, the area somehow became very dark, as if it were nighttime already. This eerie change happened literally the second one stepped foot into the woods. The trees were dark yet vivid with cooler colours. They could actually seem quite beautiful to some, but unnatural to others.
Also in the forest, bizarre animals could be heard, most prominently what could best be described as a bird with a sore throat. After hearing this noise, Alice stopped and turned to address her sister.
"There are unusual animals here, but they won't bother you if you don't bother them." By coincidence, an animal passed by them at that moment; an accordion bird overhead just whizzed by, making loud noises all the while. This surprised Alice, but she quickly regained herself. She had, after all, seen it before.

Edith followed Alice through the Tulgey Wood. She couldn't help but be amazed by all the odd plants and animals she saw and wondered how her younger sister could remain calm in such a bizarre environment. In fact, Edith was so mesmerized by her surroundings that she almost stepped on some unusual two-legged creatures that vaguely resembled mushrooms. They came in various colors and moved in an organized formation.
"Goodness!" said Edith. "What are these small creatures?"

Alice, who had stopped when she saw the multicolored creatures scurry, couldn't help but make a small giggle when she heard her sibling's reaction to the adorable beings. She turned to properly address Edith.
"I believe those are the mome raths," she answered while gesturing to them. "They are kind, so please don't fear them." She turned around again to watch them. She wondered if they would create a certain shape.

The momeraths came together and formed the shape of an arrow. The Liddell sisters stood and watched as the momeraths then turned and began moving along the east path.
"Quickly, Alice!" exclaimed Edith. "Let's follow them! They just might lead us out of this forest."

Alice nodded and was the first to run. But as she ran, she remembered one thing about following a path in this thick forest: there was the possibility that said path could be erased by a rather bizarre creature! If this happened, she would have made sure to try and calm her sister.

Edith followed her younger sister through the Tulgey Wood, all the while trying to ignore the many unusual creatures that dwelled there.
"There wouldn't happen to be any dangerous creatures lurking in these woods, would there?" Edith nervously asked her younger sister.

While she was still moving, Alice responded to her older sibling. "Oh, no," she responded with sincerity. "The creatures here may look brutish, but they never once harmed me. We shouldn't be in any danger." The certainty of her voice were comforting. She was never physically harmed in the Tulgey Wood, so she wasn't worried.
"The Mad Hatter's home is nearby," she said after a pause. "We could go there, if we can't find our way."

Edith thought about Alice's suggestion for a moment. She wasn't too sure about making a stop at the residence of a potentially mad person, but she didn't want to get lost in the woods either.
"We have been wandering around these woods for quite some time," she thought. "Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to rest at this so-called 'Mad Hatter's' home and plan our way out of this world."
"Very well," Edith said to Alice. "Lead the way."

Indeed, they had been walking for an uncomfortably long time. Alice was in the process of thinking, but her thoughts were interrupted by Edith.
"Hm?" she asked up to Edith, before quickly recalling what her older sibling just asked. "Oh, yes." The younger sister stopped in her tracks, in order to take a good look at her surroundings. "Now, let's see," she said (mostly to herself). "I seem to remember the Mad Hatter's home..." She had locked her fingers together as she pondered, but she separated them and pointed to a particular area with her right index finger.
"... In that direction." She looked up to Edith and smiled, but almost instantly looked uncertain. "I do hope I won't misguide us."

Edith trusted her younger sister, for Alice knew Wonderland better than she did. Furthermore, Alice had been able to guide her through Wonderland competently enough so far, despite all the misadventures.

Retracing her steps, Alice led her sister through the Tulgey Wood. She more or less felt confident with her sense of direction, although she had to stop once or twice to consider her options. Fortunately for the sisters, Alice had proven herself a worthy navigator; she ultimately recognized a small gate in the distance.
"There it is!" she exclaimed excitedly, pointing to the gate. "Come, Edith!" She walked briskly to the gate and opened it, stepping into the Mad Hatter's property... once again, without an invitation. But the situation was important.

The Liddell sisters approached a large table covered with dishes, teacups, teapots, and all sorts of silverware. The steam produced by the teapots was so great that it practically covered the entire table. Edith looked all the way at the opposite end of the table and saw a short man with a large nose and a top hat. She instantly recognized him as the Mad Hatter that Alice told her about.
"I just hope this fellow is not as 'mad' as his name suggests," Edith thought.

Alice seated herself at a chair next to the nearest end of the long, rectangular table, which was different from the very large, red armchair she chosen whens he was last at this tea-party. As she seated herself, she looked to her older sibling. Alice seemed to recognize the face of uncertainty.
"He is the Mad Hatter," she said as she pointed to the merry little man. "Of course," she said, covering a side of her mouth to whisper, "he does not make sense in the least!"

Edith seated herself in the chair next to Alice's. She noticed a brown, wild-eyed, anthropomorphic rabbit sitting next to the Mad Hatter.
"Who is that strange rabbit?" Edith asked her younger sister.

Alice turned from her whispering position to take a look at the rabbit in question.
"Oh," Alice said as she instantly recognized the rabbit. She turned to face her older sibling and once more whispered loudly to her. "That is the March Hare. He is the Mad Hatter's friend. At least, I presume he is the Mad Hatter's friend... they are always so close together, at all times. They also have the Dormouse. Do you see him yet?"
She turned to look back once more, scanning the table for the Dormouse. Was he sleeping again?

After much hesitation, Edith called out to the wacky pair, "Exuse me, but may we join you?"
The Marge Hare and the Mad Hatter immediately ceased their festivity and turned their attention to the eldest Liddell. They then began to approach her with unhappy expressions on their faces and repeatedly shouted, "No room!"
"Whatever do you mean?" inquired Edith, fearing that she had enraged the duo. "There's plenty of room at this table!"
"But you sat down without being invited!" said the March Hare.
"Very rude indeed!" concurred the Mad Hatter.
At that moment, the Dormouse emerged from one of the teapots and said, "Very very very rude indeed."

Alice smiled as the Mad Hatter and the March Hare responded very emotionally to her older sibling. Not because Alice enjoyed watching Edith be embarrassed, but because she was reminded of her own first meeting with the mad tea-guzzlers. This was very similar to how she met them, too.
"I don't suppose you remember me?" Alice asked both the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. "Either of you?" She then looked to the Dormouse's tea pot.

The March Hare and the Mad Hatter turned to face Alice. They remained silent for a moment, pondering who this young girl was. Finally, the Mad Hatter, being the absent-minded and nonsensical character that he was, said with a goofy grin on his face, "No, I don't seem to recall you."
"Not in the slightest!" the March Hare said jovially.
"Not in the slightest," the Dormouse repeated before going back to sleep.
Edith could not help but let out a sigh of annoyance. It was then that she realized that communication with the denizens of Wonderland would be near-impossible.

Alice raised her hands in the air, shrugged her shoulders, and chuckled lightly. She wasn't at all surprised, and found the insane tea enthusiasts humorous as always. "Never mind!" said Alice as she shook her head. She gestured to her older sibling as she addressed the Hatter and Hare. "All the same, this is my sister, Edith." She smiled.

The Mad Hatter and the Marge Hare immediately shifted their attention to the elder Liddell and began shaking her hands.
"How d'ye do?" they repeatedly chirped.
Edith began to feel a little more comfortable now that her sister had calmed the absent-minded duo. She just hoped that the situation wouldn't take another turn for the worse.

Alice casually rested her elbows on the table, and locked her fingers together, resting them under her delicate chin. "How are you feeling today, sirs?" she politely asked the mad duo. Her blue eyes expressed relief to find the tea enthusiasts alive and not beheaded by the Queen of Hearts.

"Quite fine, my young lady!" said the Marge Hare. "We were just celebrating the Dormouse's unbirthday!"
"Pardon me, Mr.... Hare," Edith said hesitantly, "but whatever is an unbirthday?"
"What is an unbirthday?" said the March Hare with a surprised tone. "She doesn't know what an unbirthday is?"
