The last act for the show tonight had wrapped not that long ago and the House of Mouse patrons were filing out the double doors. The show had gone so well tonight, Mickey was certain that even Pete wouldn't be able to find something to complain about. He stood to one side in the hall wishing his guests a goodnight on their way out.
"Goodbye Lady, goodbye Tramp! Hope to see ya tomorrow!"

Donald, who stood at the front doors, also supplied good wishes to the leaving patrons. "Good night, Brom and Katrina Bones! Good night..." He seemed annoyed. "... Aracuan Bird. Go, get out!" He hurried the eccentric bird out of the club as quick as he could, to avoid potential headaches.

A shadow loomed over Mickey, because a tall, hulking figure stood behind him.
"Hey there, hi there, ho there, Mouse!"

Mickey turned around to face Pete, completely confident that their conversation about the show would be a pleasant one.
"Hiya, Pete. Did you enjoy the show tonight?"

Pete casually scratched his chin and raised a brow. "Well, depends on how you'd define 'enjoy.'"

Tony's Restaurant was under renovation, so Tony and his assistant, Joe had decided to take a minor holiday during the time of the renovation (though they of course periodically checked in frequently on the progress).
They had visited the House of Mouse that night, and had a fun time. They remained in their seats, though, to avoid the rush out.
"That vas-a very good, eh?" the large Tony asked his friend. He grinned in his usual way.
"You're right, Tony," replied Joe with a lesser smile. "Too bad it's-a all over."
Tony tilted his head. "Well, we can-a come back-a here some other night."
"Sì, and we can-a play up there." He pointed to the stage.
Tony turned his head to look to the stage, and he laughed. "Accordion and mandolin!" He looked back to Joe and shook his head. "No, no."
"Tony," Joe insisted. "Don't-a be afraid!"

"Well, now whadya mean by that? Every act ran on time tonight and there were no complaints brought back to the kitchen about the food..." Mickey ticked these items off on his fingers. "I thought you would've been pleased with business tonight."
Pete was definitely the most difficult landlord to keep happy. More than once he tried to sabotage Mickey's shows so that he could shut down the club and tonight was a particular triumph for Mickey since things seemed to go over smoothly. If Pete couldn't find a complaint tonight, it meant the House of Mouse lived to entertain guests for another evening.

Cruella exited the House of Mouse with fellow villainess, Madam Mim.
"Dreadful, darling, it was absolutely dreadful! Not one spot, not one spot at all on that stage!" she fumed, as she passed by Mickey and Donald. "I can't believe they expect me to be entertained by a bunch of teenage ducks! Disgusting!"
The screeching sound of her car could be heard several moments later as the woman sped away.

Lumiere's face fell as Cruella stomped by and he rubbed a tealight-hand under his chin. "Well nobody's perfect," he said in a comforting tone, looking up at Mickey, before continuing on his way to the kitchens.

Pete continued to scratch his chin. "Hmm... you got a point, but one thing was missing."
He lowered his hand and grinned.

Mickey's confidence began to ebb and he resisted shooting an anxious glance at Donald.
"What was that?" he asked non-chalantly.

Pete's ears twitched when he picked up the sound of a complaint from Cruella De Vil. Not that it was hard to hear such a loud, boisterous voice, of course.
"Ya hear that, mouse?" He said, pointing a finger to the woman as she left. "No spots in your acts! You call that entertainment?"
His eyes trailed to the duck. "And nepotism ain't gonna help ya; your nephews shouldn't perform every music act. One is bad enough!"

Mickey glanced over his shoulder at Donald, who looked like he was just waiting to explode. When he returned his attention to Pete, it was evident that the loveable mouse was angry.
"Heuey, Dewy and Louie practice very hard and they did just fine tonight! It was just one critic who didn't approve and she's not overlly fond of animals anyway!" He balled his hands into fists and placed them on his waist. "Now if you want to see fresh acts, we'll find them, but there's no need to be rude about it."

There was one fork missing when the cutlery count had been finished and Lumiere appointed himself the task of finding it. When he entered the hall, the candelabrum was shocked to find two guests that had stayed behind.
"Monsieurs!" he apologized, zipping over to their table. "You must forgive me for not attending to you, but we thought zhat all zhe guests had gone. Is something wrong?"

Tony looked to the anthropomorphic candelabra with an affable smile. "Mi scusi," he said. "We were'a waiting for the crowd to'a leave. We like to'a miss the traffic, hmm?" He winked.
Joe smiled to the anthropomorphic object, as well. "Hello!"

"Hey!" Pete flung up his hands in protest. He pretended to be the one who was offended. "The ducks may have worked hard, but they still ain't good. I'm not bein' rude; I'm just supplyin' constructive criticism."
He grinned and pointed straight into Mickey's face. "You better find those fresh acts, Mouse, or you can kiss this sweet House goodbye!"

Mickey specifically chose to mention the customers instead of Pete with his next few words.
"Don't worry, we won't let our guests down." He turned on his heel and walked towards Donald, prefering to say goodbye to the rest of the customers over there.

Donald grumbled, and continued to grumble even when he was approached by Mickey. The duck only thinly disguised his hatred of Pete. "I hate that fat tub of lard," he mumbled. "I'd show him if I had my way..."

"Well for now, we gotta do what Pete wants us to," were the reluctant words from Mickey's mouth. "Pete's not going to wait forever for us to get new entertainment lined up. What are we going to do?"

Donald's brows knight tightly. "Uh..." He scanned around the mostly empty House quickly, and pointed to the two Italian-Americans with Lumiere.
"How about Lumiere and... who are those guys?"

Even the mouse who was familiar with so many different people, animals, and other types of beings had not had the pleasure of encountering Tony and Joe.
"I'm not sure. I haven't seen them around before. Come on! Let's go say hello and ask how their night was!" There was a cheerful note in Mickey's tone. He was glad to see that the House of Mouse had attracted new customers. Now there would be something to tell Pete later! But not wanting to interupt a potential private conversation, Mickey did not rush straight over to the table. He did make sure he'd be able to catch Lumiere's eye at least as he made his way into the room.

"But of course, I understand completely, Monsieurs. It should be quieter now, although you are most welcome to stay a bit longer. My name is Lumiere and--" he saw Mickey and Donald enter and a huge grin spread across his face.
"And here comes our host Mickey! Come on over, Mickey!" waved Lumiere. "You must meet.... uh...." He glanced up sheepishly at the chefs. "Forgive me," he apologised with a small chuckle, "But I did not catch your names."

Tony looked back and saw the mouse and duck approach. He smiled and stood to formally greet the host. "Tony!" he said. "My name's'a Tony! And there's Joe."
Joe stood as well. "Hello'a, Mickey! You had a good show!"
"Very good," Tony added. Despite the fact that he towered over Mickey (his build was somewhat similar to that of Pete), he was highly affable and charming.
The smaller Joe looked to Lumiere.

Mickey laughed and clasped Joe's hand, giving it a firm shake. After the verbal warnings Pete gave them, it was great to hear a compliment. "Well thank you! We try our best." Grinning from ear to ear, he let go of Joe's hand to shake Tony's, before placing his hand on Donald's shoulder. "This here is my best pal, Donald, and co-owner of the House of Mouse. Do you fellah's come here often?"
Mickey could not recall seeing either of the men before, but even so, they often had a full house and he could have simply missed them.

"Actually," Joe said as he pulled his hand back after the shake, "we'a come here for the first time."
"Fantastico! That's what'a this is!" Tony was definitely the louder of the duo. "I have a ristorante of'a my own, and Joe, he'a help." He pointed a thumb to his partner.
The thinner man nodded. "But we'a don't have a show; just'a dinner."

Donald was pleased by Mickey's statement. Being the best friend of an amazingly popular guy was bound to generate attraction, after all.
The duck raised a brow in interest. "So you're restaurateurs, too?"

Lumiere chuckled and flashed Tony a knowing smile.
"But dinner can be a show, Monsieur! It's all about presentation!"
